Default Is CoD going to be patched to a 'final state' ?

Hello,

I'm sorry to ask I've seen many times the devs keep being enthusiastic with CoD.
On my part it's clear that I completely forget the first day CoD was out, it's a while ago.
Today, I can merely fly online with my mates up to the hot spots, then due to many lacks in (graphic engine ?) I either

have a drop in a ratio of 1:10 in frames per seconds
loose the enemy as they seem to disappear like ghosts

and on top, my controls are lagegd (they are a small portion of a second behind the actual joystick moves).

CoD is meant to be marvellous but please could it be possible to end with an alpha or beta of the game, which it did not evade from since its first release ?

I can't help thinking that nowadays there are some high end games running much better than cod like crysis 2 on my hardware.

It is sad that the level of finishing of old IL-2 1946 cannot be met. But I really hope it will be one day, that must be a reward for CoD if the dev ever want to change it.

It is clear that we have something between one of the most realistic sim and one of the most rough surfaced software I have seen, not a mix that I think ever existed before.

I'm respectful for the job already done. I guess we all expect the day when the servers will fill up with very large air battles taking place.

There's no, absolutely no way this is going to happen on a properly configured game.

If you've got a weak pc and have all-out settings, that's where I would start to look. And no, crysis 2 is not a modern flight simulation benchmark.

I certainly hope not. In the years to come, as flight and damage models improve I want to come back and re-explore COD.

Skoshi, you're saying you want it to remain as boring as it is for offliners, so you can maybe come back one day and find something you might have missed?

The more finished it is, the more content there is, thus the more there is to explore.

S!

For me it can only get better as the latest beta patch solved a lot of performance issues for me. So basically this expected final patch will just improve things further I think. FM/DM/CEM need a lot of work still though. Seems a bit that lessons from original IL-2 were not carried over in full scale for some reason as we have the similar "features" in current FM that original has.

No Philip! Those are your words.

I would like a continual improvement of the series so as new content and features are introduced they become available in the previous titles. Just like in the original IL2 series.

Earlier theatres in IL2 never became stale because as the series expanded the improvements effected the entire series.

The 'final state' that this topic is titled means that it will not change or improve thereafter. That will be the death knell of the title.

Do you want COD to enter a 'final state'?

Cheers!

I can only speak from my own experiences with CoD and the biggest improvement I have found is investing in a new PC.

Pre beta patch the game ran ok on my old PC but I did get stuttering online in dogfights and big furballs were a no-go. About the time of the beta patch I bought a brand new PC and that fixed it for me. Performance wise the game now runs extremely smooth on full settings - I have no slow downs, no fps issues, no stuttering etc etc in the largest online furballs and I have no CTDs anymore. I know not everyone can do it right now and I don't want to be harsh but CoD is still a reasonable new game and if you want to be able to run a next gen game flawlessly you need a high end PC. People trying to run a next gen game on old hardware are going to have performance issues unfortunately. Hopefully the devs will be able to streamline game performance but I imagine there's only so much they can do.

I see what you mean, and I agree with you. 'Final state' sounds very foreboding.
However, I'd rather see an effort made to move it closer to that state, instead of diverting resources to new products.
Finish Moscow (by finish I mean get it up to a more than acceptable level) and then revisit CloD and work on it, model the later channel battles after the BoB, perhaps go back and focus on the BoF and then use the existing models to expand into the MTO.

I already tried many things among which updating the USB driers, I'm indeed sure the issue does'nt lie in the game.
But there are aother persons having this same problem.
I'm using Saitek X52 under Windows 7 64 bits, but all other games does'nt seem to be affected by hat problem.

I haved tricked the configuration, that's just a proper installation so I can't find the problem root caused, any help would apprecciated if one has some ideas, I looked for such type of issues on the web but found nothing which solved it.

Appart from that, some posts say the truth, but other great flight sim make it clear all of it can run on a modern hardware, I would really assume, without such drop in fps.

I hope born again the time we flew in squadrons and didteam work, that's the real way this game can be played.

Try deleting the USB drivers and upon restarting the computer manually install legacy drivers? I've not had issues with game controllers, but I did have issues with memory card readers that worked through USB. Had to reinstall legacy drivers to get the memory card reader to be recognises. Long shot, but what the hey.
