I have a radeon 5770 Just installed latest catalyst 12.3 and installed Il2. flickering rivers and some flickering on land too. Anyone know which version of catalyst will work best for Il2?

Disable Antialiasing in the Catalyst Control Center.
I find turning that on always gives me the same flickering textures/rivers issue. AA and Crossfire both cause graphical issues or outright crashes in the game when they are enabled for me. |

Thanks, mate that sorted it. Nice one! It's great that I didn't have to install an older version of catalyst as I find in every other way the 12.3 is an improvement over the older one I used to have.
Cheers! |

If you switch to DirectX mode, you can keep the anti-aliasing. This way, your game will look better in every respect other than when you fly low across the water.
The flickering ground textures caused by AA in OpenGL mode has been an issue since at least 11.12 CCC. Last edited by martinistripes; 04-01-2012 at 10:02 AM. |

That's interesting because I've always read that Il2 should be played in open gl because it looks better that way. to be honest I have never even tried it in direct x because of that. Maybe I should experiment a bit more...

Yes. I have read that many times too..... personally I think it looks far better in Direct X.

In OpenGL mode landscape detail can be set to 'Perfect'. In DirectX mode it is limited to 'Excellent'. The only difference I've noticed is a drop in sea/ocean quality.
