Default 4.09 beta issues

I've done a couple re-installs

basic 1946 installation then 4.08m then 4.09b

WHenever I try to load new map in FMB the program locks up. I do a ctrl-alt-del and look at it in taskmanager and it indicates the il2 is not running.

I dl 4.09 beta from another site and installed it over a fresh 46-4.08 installation ... same problem.

Hi CrazyIvan,

I was just getting round to installing 4.09 beta when I saw this thread. I am running an AMD XP chip. What are the issues with the beta and my chip?

Thanks,

RedToo.

Yeah I'm running AMD 64Bit 3700+ processor with XP SP2

I did find it is running, unlike what the task manager says.

It just doesn't bring up the little loading box.

Beta has always been a bad word for me. It seems I always get problems with betas. LOL

Thanks for the responses

hi guys, what you need to do... is save mg_sound.dll and ...i forgot the other one lol.. something sound.dll from 4.08. There is known issue with those and some AMD CPUs. Basically, if i were you.. i would unzip 409 beta into some other location... and grab everything but those sound dlls and paste into IL2 installation. Or save original sound dlls and replace ones that came with 409 beta..

Or maybe just one mg_sound.dll... i am at work, cannot check that.

Right. It is the mg_snd.dll and mg_snd_sse.dll. Those are the troublemakers.
