Question 8800GT 512 enough for PF at 1920x1200p?

Im buying a new rig (E8200, 2GB RAM, 8800GT 512MB, 24" s-pva monitor with res 1920x1200p)...I`ll overclock both, CPU and 8800GT....I wonder if I can get playable framerates with perfect settings (for smooth online dogs) with 8800GT at 1920x1200p resolution? any experineces with PF at that resolution? or should I go for 22" monitor with cheaper TN matrix? pls any suggestion welcomed....

I run IL2 1920X1200 on ATI 1900XTX with 4AA, 4AF, Vsync on... I would imagine 8800 which is significantly faster will do much better

Easily, should run 8xAA and 16xAF too!

I am running SLI with 2x8800GTS (G92) and get no hits at-all. I would point out, that with that resolution it will look beautiful, but seeing enemy 'dots' will be impossible, until they are very close.

For online (and it hurts it really does), to be competitive I use 1024x768, which lets me get a fix on the enemy, but like I said, looks crap, but at least I can see the 'bandits'on my 6 (which is usually where they are!)

Cheers, MP.

Interesting that you mentioned dots... I have no problems seeing dots from 4-5km altitude against the ground. Same for ground objects.. not a problem. Wonder why..

I see them as good if not better at 1680x1050 on my Samsung 20" and I know others that will echo this as well. Crank it up I say and enjoy the beauty of the sim as it should be.

S!

I have a similar setup to Ivan and have no problem seeing dots. I was surprised because when I first booted up IL2 at that res when I got my 24" BenQ, I could see dots and ground objects better in this setup/resolution than I ever could before at any resolution I'd previously tried and I've always had good quality monitors (mainly Iiyama Visionmaster pro's) and graphics cards in the past.

tvrdi, that 8800GT 512 would do the trick with a 24" at 1920x1200 with ease. Get the 24", don't get a cheaper TN panel. The quality difference between TN and SPVA's is shocking as is the difference between a cheap 24" and a good quality 24".

actually there is a new Lenovo L220X which is 22" with 1920x1200 resolution with price between average 22" TN and 24" s-pva (cca 640$ here)....i wonder if smaller dot picth would be a problem in detecting dots...

Lenovo:
22 wide 1920x1280 = 11295 pixel / sq. inch (0.247 mm square)

15.4 wide 1280x800 = 9608 pixel / sq. inch
15.4 wide 1440x900 = 12161 pixel / sq. inch
15.4 wide 1680x1050 = 16552 pixel / sq. inch

17 4:3 1280x1024 = 9437 pixel / sq. inch
19 4:3 1280x1024 = 7555 pixel / sq. inch
20 wide 1680x1050 = 9811 pixel / sq. inch (0.258 mm)
22 wide 1680x1050 = 8107 pixel / sq. inch (0.282 mm)
24 wide 1920x1280 = 9494 pixel / sq. inch (0.282 mm)
