Angry Anybody experiencing this??? PS3

All controls working fine...then after a while...pretty much random...then all of a sudden there's a delay in all the controls...I suspected overheating...so I stick a fan to it...even before I start it up...still hit and miss...may take hours, may take minutes...but eventually it will happen...Is that the real cause or is it something else???

Hey Scotty....believe me I read your post but you specifically said your problem was conex and you stated "freezing"...I do experience some freezing from time to time, which I believe happens to everybody, furthermore and would like to point out another problem which I will discuss after we clear this issue.

Chief, my problem is not the freezing...I'm talking about during gameplay...everything appears to be working nomal...then all of a sudden...all controls slow down...like a half second delay on every input...

I'm inclined to believe that it may very well be overheating related...I recently stuck a small fan in front to force air into the intake holes... may have helped or delayed the overheating process...I just gerry rigged the same fan and placed it behind the unit, with the fan blowing out...so it creates a vacuum, somewhat Venturi effect inside the enclosed space, mimicking the effect of the aftermarket fan sold by PS3...hope it's as effective or even better...I'll attach photo

Indeedy i mentioned my conx as its not bad on paper and drops out aswell but placing that aside............ my system freezes for no apparent reason and more recently ive been getting chucked to the main menu.

how old is you're controller??? mine was doing that and i have a new one in reserve now its not a prob, i put it down to lag at first ........ i play lots of cod, hence i think my system is over heating also, when was the last time you hoovered out the vents??? if its older and now not covered split it and hoover the inside, use the guide in my thread for the "secret menu" and defrag the database.

I use the AV8R and it's not that old...when that happens again, I will switch to 6axis to see if the same...

I have not split it yet and afraid to do so like you...but eventually I might and I just recently cleaned and hoovered like you said.

In the secret menu...Is that the same as Database rebuild???

On another topic...on freezing as well...It is almost guaranteed that when I go to the profile menu and view the planes in the Hangar it will freeze no mater what...not so immediate a problem...but indicates there is a problem...any thoughts

First thing I would do is get your system out of that sweat box and give it some open air.

Then crack that puppy open and give it a good cleaning with some compressed air. Try to avoid blowing air into the BD drive.

If the slim cooling is designed like the fatty your fan may be preventing the PS3 from transferring heat because it is pushing against the exhaust.

The hangar is a known issue which, in my case, was fixed by turning off additional controllers and using a Dualshock.

As an update to my little gerry rigging...I am very happy to report that it is working quite well in fact. Very, very significant drop in temperature!!!, as compared to just having fan blowing in front.

Again, the fan is FACING AWAY from the PS3 unit in the back. So the fan is SUCKING the hot air being blown out of the exhaust vent of the PS3 unit.

Whether it will solve whatever problems I have...I am 110% sure that it is definitely running cooler, which is a good thing irregardless
