Default Launcher has stopped working?

Hello. I came back after the summer holidays and tried to fire up my trusty old war horse with Vista 64 that worked when i left.
After opening steam i press play as always and "Launcher has stopped working" appears.
Any good ideas? In plain english... please

Same here. Worked until a few days ago. I had read that one user got good FPS after lowering trees and land. I turned those all the way down, whereby it asked me to relaunch game. Launcher started crashing. I upgraded from Vista 64 to 7 64 (not to fix the game, but just something I've been planning to do). Launcher crashes. I unintalled the game, then re-installed. Still no go. I did the suggestions above, but no change.

Same here. I haven't connected to COD for a couple of weeks and when I did, the launcher won't allow me to play. It gives me all the advertisements to other games currently on Stream but won't launch COD.
Any suggestions?

Default I Think it's common to 64 bit installations

Just before I went on Holiday, I ran COD and was told it was updating. I let it "update" but didn't have time to run it. Now I am back, the launcher doesn't launch. I get a Steam message box that I think is saying "launching Cliffs of Dover" but it's very quick. After that dialogue box disapears, nothing, not running processes, nothing. Nothing in any logs I can find either. The dates on my files in the game folder look like the last updat did not acutally take.

The common theme seems to be 64bit Operating Syatems. and, yes It was working well before the "update". I will now try to re-install.

Any help wpuld be most welcome.

Hi Cheesehawk,

Thanks for the advice. I had uninstalled and re-installed from Steam (as well as clearing out the files in My documents) before reading this and that did cure it. So unfortunatly I still have no idea what was going on.
