why does launcher.exe keep failing me after just a few minutes in any kind of server? I'm kind of getting tired of going back to the desktop or taskmanager because the game locked up....
And as an edit: a reinstall didn't help.. Last edited by 1.JaVA_Sharp; 07-10-2011 at 03:29 PM. |

A launcher.exe error usually points to a corrupt update file Mr Chap. Within the Steam Library there's an option to check the game integrity. I'd give that a go.
Also, it's worth posting up your rig details as someone may be able to offer some config advice whcih will help your specific set up. Good luck! Badger

You might want to get rid of the four X's, you can get banned for that...

If you are running WinXP or less than 4GB RAM this is the reason. Get Win7-64 and more RAM.
Otherwise reinstall all programs from redist directory in Steam/CoD If you have 4gb RAM this may not be enough if you run anything in background. Use Gamebooster or similar free software to unload all unnecessary processes. Recent patch changed something in memory management and 4gb RAM may not be enough unless you keep windows very slim. Try reducing texture quality and a guide(5) in my sig if nothing helps. |

Er, more info on this? Has this been confirmed anywhere? I run 4 gig, and rarely get launcher failures - but just recently I've had about 3 or 4, always the first time I load the game.

This guy reported that with 4gb RAM he had only 200-300mb of "not allocated" memory remaining and microstutters. Adding another 4gb fixed microstutters and the system now shows 4.3gb RAM used in total. http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/showthrea...4&daysprune=30 (use Google translate) BTW it is another proof you can not run CloD on x32 without stutters or crushes. Install Gamebooster or similar free software and unload all processes from memory if you have 4gb like I do. If I forget to start Gamebooster I have CTD when switching objects in external views couple of dozen times on Repka2 or 3. |

I'm sure they'll sort it out sooner or later because they will have to if they want to live up to the specs they have listed for running the game. Last edited by BigPickle; 07-13-2011 at 11:26 AM. |

and there's allso the fact that I don't have stutter problems. It's just the launcher.exe giving the ghost

If one reads just a little bit in the forii, one knows that min. specs have a very loose connection to reality, not only in CoD!

Win7-64 can run in demo mode for several weeks iirc which is enough to check if it helps. IIRC you can reinstall it again many times to prolong your trial if it was not enough to make a decision.
Multiple reports are saying WinXP-32 causes crushes in CloD which disappear after installation of Win7-64. I think XP support will be discontinued in Battle of Moscow as XP is not supported in modern games any more. E.g. Vista is stated in minimum spec for Battlefield3 and Win7-64 as recommended http://bf3blog.com/battlefield-3-system-requirements/ Same for ArmA 3 http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/19/ar...ents-revealed/ You can install Win7-64 demo as a second OS only for CloD.
