I believed that wreckage recovery was forbidden / very difficult in UK due to the war graves law.

Well the pilot bailed in this case, so they don't expect to find a body Unless I'm misunderstanding you?

I remember my Dad taking me to Rye Police Station in the '80s to see recovered wreckage from a Spitfire. The pilot hadn't bailed from this one.

it could have been nice if the time team had done this and televised it. i would have enjoyed that.
