Just thought I'd add this video I made last week for my youtube channel; of some great Royal Navy Historics that currently frequent our UK airshow circuit.
Thought perhaps it may interest one or two of you. Yeovilton Royal Naval Air Station in the UK's West Country, is my local 'fix' & it was on Thursday of last week that I caught wind of a behind-the-doors showcase by the Royal Navy Historic Flight, in a bid to impress potential sponsors, so it was off to the perimeter field next to the 27 runway threshold, armed with my camcorder, expecting to capture Sea Vixen & Sea Fury footage but got alot more! Enjoy ![]() Last edited by Houndstone Hawk; 06-27-2011 at 02:20 PM. |

Very cool. You are lucky to live so close to that airfield. Seein that Swordfish fly was very cool. After seeing that jet take off and land, it looked like that Swordfish was creeping along. Thought he was gonna stall on takeoff! Always nice to see the ole' birds in flight. Ain't nothin like the grumble of those old engines.

Nice video
![]() Had the privilege of seeing a Swordfish, with a dummy torp loaded, do a touch and go then land at Rochester Airport (Kent) a few years ago, I was flying out, waiting on the field, so didn't see what one it was from its markings out of the two left flying in the UK Regarding that particular Stringbag in the Youtube Vid LS326 was built in 1943 at Sherburn-in Elmet in Yorkshire by Blackburns and is therefore really a ‘Blackfish’. She saw active service flying on North Atlantic convoy duties with ‘L’ Flight of 836 Squadron on board the MAC ship ‘Rapana’. After the war she flew from the naval air stations at Culham (Oxford) and Worthy Down (Winchester) before going to Fairy Aviation as G-AJVH. In 1960 she came back to the Navy and was painted for a starring role in the film ‘Sink the Bismarck’. She now wears her wartime 836 Squadron colours. In 1960 she returned to the Navy and was painted for a starring role in the film ‘Sink the Bismarck’ with the codes [5A]. She is presently one of only three active airworthy Swordfish in the world and of the fifteen surviving examples, four of them are currently based at Yeovilton. At the present time LS326 wears her wartime 836 Squadron markings and wears the codes [L2]. In May 1999 she was adopted by the City of Liverpool and she wears the city's coat of arms on her fuselage. She is currently resting in the RNHF hangar for the 2000 airshow season, leaving W5856 to solely fly the RNHF flag at Airshows across the UK. http://www.stringbag.flyer.co.uk/rnhf/ls326.htm .
