It's perfect, almost overkilling. Go for it. Furthermore, it overclocks as a charm.

But not for CloD.

I agree that socket LGA1155 is the best option price/performance. And I really like the fact that it's suited with a lithography of 32 nm.

Btw Insuber, hows that PSU hanging with your overclock and you graphic card? Have you done any stress tests to your system?

regards.

The easy way are the utilities like Asus' or Gigabyte's ones, running under Windows. They apply a preset of BIOS parameters which safely do the thing.
The purists will tell you to tweak directly the BIOS parameters. At any rate you can find gazillions of websites that tell you how to do it.

Cheers,

Snap that puppy up!

That chip will easily go above 4 GHz. I've some up to 5 GHz. You can spend more money on the 2600K - but you won't see any better performance.

Perfect price/performance spot.

S!

mc,

I did the Prime95 "torture test". No issue at all. But the toughest test was CloD itself ... LOL!

Cheers,
Insuber

PS: the PSU wattage recommendations in forums et alike are normally grossly overestimated. The online PSU sizing tools are run by PSU manufacturers, that should tell it all. You shouldn't save in quality, that's still true, but my 2 years old VX550 runs without an issue with my vid card and overclock.

I'm afraid you do. Sandy bridge CPU's use a different socket. (LGA 1155)
