Anyone know how to force 800x600 and make it stay?

Unfortuneately, this is the best resolution I can do on my system atm for clod. Problem is 800x600 won't always take and I can't ever get it to show up in the in-game drop down box when I force it in the config.ini from the back end. But for some reason 640x480 does show up in the front end menu??? Weird. Anyway, I can get the game to accept the 800*600 config.ini override sometimes. I'll do a few benchmarks runs, then I go to restart the game for another run and it blows up. The picture gets huge relative to my monitor where only part of the image is shown. Have no idea what is going on. I've been staying offline, so I don't think steam is doing it. I'm all patched up too.

change your desktop resolution to 800*600 or whatever, run the game. now you can select in the video options 800*600
