Strange occurance on birds of prey

I was hosting a game earlier and something rather strange happened. It was a 10 minute CTA game in Britain on the two airfields Limpne and Hawkidge. I had chosen team B and waited for guys to join. Things were really quiet, only one player was waiting for the game to start with me. We were waiting for more players for ages so decided to go at it 1 vs 1. I started the game and a third player appeared over my field with me. His PSN was JLV06. He was not on my team but somehow started the game against me over my field. He did not enter the game the conventional way just simply appeared with me when the game started. I managed to land and capture my field on my second attempt as he bombed me from his spitfire on my first try. I killed him and he respawned over my field again rather than over his own field. He then quit the game after I killed him the second time. Meanwhile the original player was tooling around over the other field so I flew over and saw out the game against him. Can anybody please explain to me how JLV06 managed to enter the game and how he managed to spawn over my field at the start and respawn over it again after I killed him. By the way the same player has done this to me before so it's not some sort of one off glitch. Has this happened anybody else ?

No. Never happened on xbox anyway. If I'm right in that you can't invite on Ps3, that rules out the "invite from search" wrong game mode glich. Was he on the matches scoreboard? I guess it could be a simarlar kind of bug that makes your game think its in a dogfight, but that doesn't explain how he appeared without being in the lobby. Are you sure he didn't just join and ready up a split second before you started the game?
The only other possiblities are a hacked game, or some kind of weird connectivity problem between yours and his PS3 causing the game to get confused.

Hi Robotic Pope, Nope I am 100% positive only two of us started the game. This JLV06 guy has done the same thing before so it's no fluke. He respawned over my field on the other occasion it happened with him too. Also my aircraft was handling really weird it didn't feel like it normally does, it was as if it was being "tugged" by something. LOL honestly I wasn't taking anything illegal at the time ha ha.

BTW when he quit my aircraft started to respond like normal again.

sounds like some strange lag event. i was just talking about that in another thread...how certain players with a bad connection seem to effect the whole game. maybe this is kind of deal.

hmmm I don't think lag alone could cause this.

Irish, keep an eye out for him again. See if it happens when someone else hosts aswell. Strange things can happen when two players can't connect to each other properly especialy if one is the host. I wouldn't assume he is a hacker just yet.

This does seem to be a connectivity problem then. On xbox if you have any problem connecting to another player you will be unable to join the game which is why nobody on xbox has had this happen. This is probably different on Playstation network, where you can join a game while only having partial connection to the host. This will cause the hosts game to become confused.

As I said, lag alone can't cause wrong spawn points and invisible people in the lobby before the game. This is complete lack of certain needed information because the users router is most probably blocking the ports their PS3 needs open to comunicate properly. It might help to check your NAT status too.

If I recall I think I remember playing against a player who had no plane selected. When I started the game, I had to restart my PS3 as the game wouldn't finish loading.

Wow that is kinda weird. But i've never seen anything like that on the xbox, so it must be a PS3 thing.

I know on the xbox, occasionally, once in a great while a player will show up as 'blue' on the radar (sorta like what R-BADD7 was saying). The blue player isn't on either team and if you shoot it down it doesn't count. But they can still shoot you down.

Strange stuff, but makes it interesting every now and then
