Question why is it troops don't go over fences?

why is it you can direct a soldier to jump a fence when you get the little orange curved arrow thing, but if you instruct a soldier to go to a location, he walks AROUND, sometimes a laughably long way, instead of simply go direct and jump the fence/wall/whatever?

damn annoying when you send someone somewhere and turn your attention to something else and come back a few seconds later to find him dead cos he ran a stupid way and met some enemy?

Its because your troops are just that plain idiotic......ive told them to hop fences to and some will and like 1 dude tries to run around it, I just move my others away and have a hellva time getting that one guy to just hop it which is retarded seeing how like 10 others had done it right before him haha
