Default Any BNZ tips?

I've just completed the campaign and I'm trying out the online modes. My plane of choice is the Bf 109 F-4.I just can't seem to pull off a successful BNZ run.It usually ends with me entering a turning battle against the enemy for 20-ish minutes before I realise it's futile and escape to try another BNZ run.

This is what I usually do when I play.Firstly I increase my altitude to about 2250km-when the enemy is usually about 1000-500km.Then I swoop down-speed acclerates to 400-500 kmph, and usually over shoot my target completely. If I don't over shoot my target, I'm going too fast to score a clear shot.Multiple times, the enemy makes a sharp causing me to struggle with the controls in an attempt to re-direct the plane.

Is there anyone here that can give me some tips on how to BNZ properly?I would also like to know which planes are good for BNZ tactics-my preference are agile planes which need at most two BNZ runs to destroy the enemy.

Well, if you're a very big fan of BnZ, the jets aren't a bad choice.. (you wouldn't be allowed in my game, mind you ), but it's pretty hard to hit someone because of your speed. The 109-G6 isn't a bad choice because of it's crazy armament. BnZ is tricky because it's hard to do if your target is on to you. It's easy to just turn away and evade your gunfire. It's best to pick a target that's already engaged (i.e. chasing target, or being chased, don't worry about killstealing, people shouldn't complain too much), or a target that doesn't see you coming. However, as BoP is now, it's hard to get a lot of kills with BnZ, since most people fly agile turning planes.

boom n zoom tatics dont really work on anything else except sim mode in arcade and realistic ppl can see you coming /where your going etc

its much easyer to pull off in sim mode and if your prey does spot you its easyer to escape as they dont have the big red arrow telling them where you are

As Ancient said G-6 is probably one of the best choices for pure BnZ.

I have no big experience but I think F-4 is better suited for a 'hybrid' tactic, at least in this game. You have no great firepower so unless your aim is really good it will take a while to shoot down a plane, but at least F-4 allows you to stay in tail longer and sometimes even out turn enemies.

I've had the most success with the G2 (or the G-10) when I unlocked it. The guns aren't as good but it is FAST--and this is crucial. When he turns away, you turn slightly in the same direction (I mean *slightly*) and just keep on going. By the time he's turned around, you're out of the effective range of his guns. The g2 is also much more agile than the G6, so if you do have to turn, you can. With the Bf109, you want to do climbing turns to shed your airspeed (while storing it as altitude); it doesn't turn well over 200mph.

This being said, the K4 is also very fast and has devastating weapons, but it doesn't turn as well. I watched ChankyChank put it to good use this weekend--some of the most effective BnZ I've seen.

This works fairly well for me... though I can only speak for realistic. With the speed equalizer on arcade this will not work. I'm a yank so my measurements are going to be in FT and MPH. (if someone is better at conversion by all means) The name of the game is altitude and speed. Remembering both are interchangable. I prefer to get atleast a 2,000 ft advantage, with 4,000 being my optimal. I like to wait for the fight to get going before making my first pass. I pick someone that is busy trying to shoot someone down or someone who is in the process of trying to turn thier bird back into the fight. But here is the key that works for me. I also pick a secondary target and leave myself open to other targets. I do not fixate on one target but pick an area of sky where I think the most will be. Closing to with in 7,000 ft of the furball I start my dive, full throttle, aiming for my point in the sky. At around 5,000 ft I let off the throttle a bit and by now can usually commit to one target. Holding my speed I like to close with in a 1000 ft before I fire. Shooting any earlier usually alerts my target and as pointed out above it's very easy to avoid a diving attacker. Now things are going to go fast, you are usually only going to get a couple of seconds to fire...so be careful with your aim and make the quick burst count. I like getting really close as it reduces my chances of missing and increases the damage of my bullets/cannon shells. After my quick burst I do not turn I nose down a little bit to gain a little more speed and pull up and climb back out. If done correctly you should be able to trade the speed you have picked up in your dive for altitude and climb back up to your original height. (keep you climb shallow...after practicing you will find the angle to get back up to your alt with out killing alll your speed).

The most important thing with this tactic is plane choice. You want some thing with decent power and a little weight. The most important IMO though is fire power. I prefer the 109 G6 as nothing beats those 3 30 mm's. It bucks like a mule when firing so keep the burst short.

Last but not least DO NOT TURN if you miss on your pass. The moment you try and turn you are now playing their game and will lose all of your speed. What i find happens alot is the person you miss or wound will try and follow you in your climb. With the speed advantage I can usually loop back in really quick like for a head on pass.

Hope that helps.

If the game is set for 1945, the BNZ tactic isn't going to be very successful in a 109F anyway -- as most of the planes you'll be flying against are faster than you anyway.

Like a few have already said -- G6 and the K4 are good BNZ planes. If the 190D9 were modeled accurately, it would be an even better choice - as it can outdive everything except a P-47 -- and has the balls to climb with anything but a K4.

100% agree that BNZ is virtually useless except as one offs as the big red cheat arrows alert your intended target your coming and defeat your BNZ with a few simple turns.

If you insist on BNZ always pick a target that is otherwise engaged whether it be attacking or defending, hopefully they'll be too busy and not notice the big cheat warnings!
