To all bf-109 fans like me: which one is best?
I always fly the G-6 (Yet to unlock the G10 or K-4),but sometimes I see people still flying E's and F's. I know darn well some of these people have unlocked the others, but choose not to fly them.
Is there a reason for this? Which model do you guys use/do best with? FYI: I play on realistic 99% of the time. Last edited by mattmanB182; 09-30-2009 at 04:49 AM. |

I'd say I've had my best rounds on realistic with the E-3 and G-6.
I think the E-3 is a decent dogfighter. I like the F-4 for dogfighting as well, but I'm not exactly a crack shot, so the extra cannon on the E-3 helps. The G-6 is just a beast if you can get a nice tracking shot (sometimes a snapshot will do just as well) but I don't think it handles as well as either the E-3 or F-4. Now, I played a couple rounds of simulator with the E and F and did fairly well with both, but got more kills with the E. Just my take. |

I use the G-6 as well, but I haven't tried the E or F series enough to see any advantages they would have over the Gustav.
I think the game has a typo with the G-6 armament, it says "2 machine guns and 3 30 mm cannons" when I think the actual armament is 4 machine guns and one 30 mm cannon. |

I take the G6 90% of the time. I do like to fly the G2 also (seems a little less heavy then the G6).
The G6 is just the bomb, fast, weapons shred enemys in seconds, just feels a bit heavy in turn fights, but good climb rate and speed usually help to stay on top in a dogfight. Can´t wait to get the K4 (but that will still take me a while) |

I use the G-6 for now, I can't aim very well with the center guns of the F-4, even when I'm right ontop of them. Once we have German cockpits, I'll probably be in the F-4. Fast and nimble. I've unlocked the 109K but I'm not a fan. Feels sluggish, even for a 109.

F-4 for dealing with fighters, K-4 for bomber busting. Unless a B-17 appears in which case Me-262.
When I'm not bombing myself, that is.

Well I found that the G6 is a heavy fat big pig EDIT with big balls though
Don't now really well the others, I will test them in free flight (especially the F4) |

None of the Me109G's had any weapons inside the wing. They ALL had One 20mm or later One 30mm Cannon in the engine and Two machine guns ubove the engine.(G-2 has 8mm mg's, G-6 replaced these with 13mm mg's) In BoP the 109's with 3 cannons are fitted with the conformal gondola 20mm wing cannons. These were great at taking out bombers but pretty much destroyed the planes ability to dogfight. They were usualy used as night fighters. The 109K introduced 2 internal 30mm in the wings, so although still adding to the weight, but without the drag and restored the handling somewhat. The 109F should be the best handling of all. It had more power than the Emil for not much additional weight. It also had the improved wing design which the Emil didn't. The Gustav really added too much power and weight for the airframe. It was a dangerous plane for the german pilots, thay had to be carefull or their own plane could kill them.

Ah, so the 109 G-6 and 109K actually do have 3 cannons as well as 2 machine guns, interesting.
Especially if it doesn't hurt the K's handling as much as it does the G-6's. I found the G-6 to be a decent enough dogfighter, I blew up plenty of Spitfire MXIs with it. Though of course their pilots didn't seem to know anything than trying to just turn with their enemy every time, like someone flying in BF1943 :d |

I think the G-10 handles very well, it's the fastest 109 on the game. It still doesn't have the acceleration of a spit so be careful. I usually fly the K-4 just because the G-10's armament is utterly dissapointing once I became accustomd to flying the K-4. 109s can turn with a spit or an LA at the right speeds, but it requires so much energy that you can't sustain the same radius as them. Manage your energy, try to stay above your target while they turn, let them kill their energy. Most spit or LA pilots immediately enter a turn when you engage each other, I try to go high, dive back in while they're bleeding energy to get a burst in. If you hit them, their controls are definitely going to be affected. If you miss you may want to disengage and come back when you've regained an advantage. Be patient-if they are multiple people playing wait for them to engage each other and dive in the back of the line. I've been able to score 4-5 consecutive kills with limited ammo in a K4 riding the train
