Default Your "odd" BoP moments!

A response of sorts to the "nice eye catching moments" thread...

Not necessarily being glitches, whatare your odd game moments?

Hers my example:

It was the second single mission, on sim.

2 spits vs 2 109s... After a short dogfight I sent a spray of bullets through the first enemies engine and sent him blazing into the channel, and as a pulled out of my dive (from watching him go in ) I saw my wingman trying to escape other 109 with a thick trail if smoke pouring from his engine.
I gave chase, thinking "I'll save you buddy" but as I closed in after a long chase, my screen faded and I all of a sudden popped out somewhere else!
Bemused I checked the map and to my surprise we were approaching France(and the edge of the map!) why did my wingman go for France rather
than England?
I have come to the conclusion he was a spy and the whole encounter was a clever rouse for him to escape back home heh heh heh

any one else have any strange occurences?

Aha got a couple for yas;

First, doing 'The Babysitter' mission, I was sitting behind the guy at about .6 k/m with 15 seconds left on the clock, we must have been a good 1.5/2 k/m above any opposition, when all of a sudden..BOOM! he exploded for no reason, there was no enemy fire or anything!

Second, I was doing a Stalingrad mission where you gotta destroy the artilliary when 2 flights on BF 109's come after you, I climbed to 13k feet to avoid then as they started firing dived at a angle with brought the speed to above theirs, gaining distance and contained the angle of attack to the furthest away target, then pulled up to align for attack, by this point the 8 bogeys had started firing but missed mostly, then passed me (very close) and as they went behind me...all dissapeared! there was no explosion, no smoke on the ground, nothing! gone from radar, gone from sight, gone from mind! Good thing too, limited ammo and fuel, no extra lives, if it wasnt for that occurance I would not have completed the mission!

On a training mission with me in a Hurricane vs 16 Me109's. I start the mission and proceed to fly straight at the enemy flight. I get a target lined up and fire in a head on pass and take him out. As I pass through the flight, the all break INWARDS towards me, resulting in a huge mid-air collision by 10 aircraft. I was then left just to pick up the stragglers.

I laughed hard for a good 5 mins after that.

Hahaha, I've had one similar, the first Sicily campaign mission, I ordered my wingmen to go after the fighters while I took out the batteries, I had a great view as they all converged on one enemy and promptly collided, all 3 gone, fools!!

The inspect airfields mission, (which I still haven't completed in sim), flipped at 31mph as usual after landing and so tried to hop into the wingmans aircraft, did so just in time to see the diasies come through the windscreen...two crashes in as many seconds. He obviously couldn't live without me...

I forget the exact mission but it was in the Ardenns; I'm in the Pony and I get jumped by a gagle of 190's. I lock onto the flight lead and let loose a quick burst taking out the pilot. As that is one of my favorite kill I decided to follow him down. I pull out at tree top next to the smoking crater and go into a hard right turn. All of a sudden I hear explosion after explosion... I turn around to see the last of the flight of 190's nose diving into the ground. They had all jumped on my six and had followed me down but made absolutely no attempt to pull out. I guess they couldn't live with out their flight lead.

My favorite though was on the Italian mission where you have to distract the fighters. I jump strait into the middle of their flock and latch onto one of the fighters. A few quick turns and we are on the deck. While still in a turning battle I notice that the entire flight is slowly coming down to our alt. Two seconds latter the explosions start as the entire flight attmepts to match my low level turn. With in 30 seconds the skys were clear.

This last one has happened several times. I'm in formation with my flight and we are about to get into a fight. I pick a target and order them to engage. I firewall my throttle to get on my own target and my flight attempts to break formation. Instead of pealing off the peal in and all three go up in a ball of smoke. My soon to be wife was watching and starts cracking up, she say's,"It's just like real life and the idiots you work with!".

I was doing a training mission last night. I was in a Hurricane against 16 Emils. After the first pass, in which no one was shot down, I heard an enormous CRASH behind me. Glancing back I see an enormous amount of smoking wreckage falling from the sky. EIGHT of the Emils had crashed into each other in a huge mid air pile-up!

I had a burning wreck happen to fall onto my plane from above.

I also "rear ended" a target and we both collided with one of my wingmen, who was flying across our path, hot on the heels of another enemy.

Took out the elevators of a B-17 with a Bf-110, in a Simulator mode Strike, and as we were on party mode, could hear the unfortunate player responsible for it cursing as it nosed up, stalled, flipped over and headed for the ground.

In simulator mode, power diving with a MC-202, pulling a high G pull up and having the right wing fold up due to previous damage incurred.

Catching and balancing a bomb on the wing of a Ju-87 for a few seconds.

Dogfighting a Bf-109 F4 with a Blenhiem and shooting the guy down 4 times in a row with the wing gun. (Seriously the guy was that crap!!)

Dogfighting an Me-163 with another Me-163 at over 40,000 feet.

Pulling a "Retournment" maneuver with an A-20 G and ending up on the tail of my pursuer for a few seconds. (Somebody came and stole my kill though).

Flyimg bombers in formation (loosly) withteam mates, during a Realsitic mode Strike mission.

Had another strange one last night!
The P51 mission (sim) where u start by flying along the river.
Very early on I came in on a wingman and gave him a burst accidently, didn't seem to do much....
A good 15+ mins later (spent alot of time dogfighting) I got the call "damn that was one of ours" I definatly didn't hit another wingman as they had all died bar this guy!
...so did my wingman manage to dogfight with 8 axis planes for that amount of time, not get hit by them and then manage to crash in his own accord, pronouncing me the "killer"??!!?!?
That's all I can get outa it!
