Default One on one realistic...which plane do you take...

arcade is plain silly for one on one, and you can pull lots of sneaky tricks to try and lose folks on sim...but with realistic it is MUCH harder to pull a fast one on a better turning plane...

so strictly one on one on Realistic what would/do you chose...?

penny for your thoughts

ps Morgoth I know your answer...well played....I'll try and make 100 kills in a 109 another way...

Ah... you know I would choose the P-51D huh!

hehe, just kiddin.. spit mk IX FTW!

It has a great armament, exellent turning and a great climb performance.

with your 109.. against my spit.. it wasnt hard for me to out turn you. There frankly wasnt much you could do . All you can hope for, is the spit getting in a stall due to a too tight turn.

The Bf109 is a good plane, but 1 vs 1 against a spit, I think its chances of winning are very low. The spit will just turn, and there isnt much you can do to stop him getting on your 6

If I would not take the spit, I would go for the La-7 or or Yak-3 They have the 'same' advantages over the 109 as the spit has.

In general, I would sacrifice speed and armament for manouvrebility. A 1 vs 1 will 90% sure end in a turning fight, so you need a good turner. Hurricane, La, spit, I-153, yak-3. Dont take a Fw109, P-51, Bf109 G-6.
The lighter 109's could be ok, depending on your opponents plane.

Seeya in the skies mate , nice gaming with you!

ps. hope you dont mind me giving my opinion anyways

Mk IX or MkXVI Spitfire for me everytime. Either plane is good for me. Im not Spitfire mad, but I really do like its looks. That and the way the crate goes around the sky is just about right for me.

I-153! The turn radius is absolutely amazing, and while it's guns aren't exactly the strongest, I've brought down many a plane. (especially 109's they seems to be the popular choice)

I've noticed alot take the various types of 109, they then try to boom and zoom. Some pull it off, others....dont.

For a 1v1 dogfigh id have to first see what my enemy is taking, then plan it from their. I'd say he would be taking a fighter no doubt, but im amazed at how many ive seen take heavy bombers into the fight haha.

Most of the time though i would take the spitfire XVI, though my preffered choice would be the hurricane.

I am a damned bad shooter. So it is equal what bird I fly. I like to fly real dogfights like Hurricanes Vs 109 E over Dover. It is comprehensible when every pilot wants to win. But it is not the guaranty for good games. But back to your question, Hurricane;109;Spits.theese are my favored planes.

Loved the La-7 in Pacific Fighters, love it now . I'm gonna wait with my opinion of the Spit until I get my flight stick, 'cause flying it with a controller is a bitch (and I haven't done the effort of finetuning the sensitivity especially for Spit). The wingdrop has always been a problem with the Spit...

Back to topic: I personally hate 1v1, 'cause as Morgoth pointed out, it'll probably end up in a turning fight, which is fun if your opponent was silly enough to grab a 109, but for the rest it's just boring.

Zoom and boom in 1v1 wouldn't work too well I recon, since your opponent will always just follow you, and although a 109 may be fast, it won't be so fast that you'll be able to outrun your opponent and make a 180 and aim nicely for him, he'd just catch up with you. And since your opponent will always come for you, it'll inevitably end up in a chicken.
