...because it sucks the big one.
I started playing out on arcade because i was under the impression you had to beat the single player on arcade before unlocking realistic. Well i was wrong and i had to play arcade on multiplayer for a day and a half. Let me tell you it was the worst expereince iv ever had with any flying game. Heres why. 1) he who turns tightest wins 2) no stalls, my thumb literely cramped 3) the damage model is completely screwed, since you can fly great when your plane is falling apart, you might as well not even shoot. 4) Loop fest PLEASE, please everyone playing. do not play arcade. Instead play realstic, where if you do have a hole in your wing you will feel the aerodyanmics of the reduced lift. Tips to make realsic fun. 1) set elevators sensitivity to 2/3 to 1/2 2) Fly with a wing man 3) chat with fellow players to coordinate attacks It only takes a few shots instead of 1000 to damage a plane. I was ready to give up on this game, then i started playing realstic and i found a whole new love for it. I am guilty of playing all the way though the campaign on arcade just to unlock planes. See you in the skies!

Is it just me or do the plane's relative turning performance act weird in Arcade online?
When I flew 109G I could turn in on La7 easily, when I flew La7 I had a hard time turning in on 109G. Ins't that backwards? Shouldn't La7 turn tighter even on arcade? Seems like the La7 flies like a dog - haven't tried it on realistic, only managed to find one realistic game all day. |

And to answer your question: The La-7, La-5FN, Yak-3, Yak-1, Yak-9, I-16, and I-153 all act slow at higher altitudes. Reason being is because they're meant for low to medium altitudes. So going up against the high altitude G6 or G10, would be a bit difficult. Try bringing them down to about 5-6 thousand feet, that should give you your turn and burn edge. Also, Arcade is probably screwy anyway? (I wouldn't know as I've only done Arcade on the Tutorials. I'm mostly on Realistic and Simulator ![]() |

im happy to try realistic difficulty , playing arcade reminds me of battlefreeze1943, where you go round and round and round and round and round and round and if you dont then you die.
also, as ive given up flying stick as its too uncomfortable and jerky ( HOTAS X going up for sale if your interested) im finding sim too hard as i cant set the rudder trim |

to be honest, i find realistic to be mostly about who can turn tightest....but then, i guess not so different to the real thing.
i cant turn as sharp as the good guys, but its them being better than me that does it. It be really cool if some of the decent pilots set up classes to give us noob flight sim guys a help up the ladder. im guessing they turn better than i for efficient use of the rudder, but really dont know. the thing i find with online gaming such as this, Cod...you get the hotshots just making mincemeat out of the noobs and they get so frustrated cos you just cant learn when you constantly shot down. other thing...is it true you play arcade MP to unlock planes? ive never bothered ith that, just went straight into realistic. |
