Default Question for Ace-Edge/Hori users

Hi guys,

I've noticed that there's a bit of a detent in the throttle right about where WEP kicks in. The only problem is that WEP engages right about in the middle of this detent rather than after it. It's not a huge deal, but I'm wondering if you guys have the same experience or if I just have a potentiometer that is just a little off.

My concern is that I really want to go up to 100% throttle and get it to "stick" in place fairly well so that I don't go into WEP accidentally and toast my engine. Depending on how the throttle is designed, I might try to crack it open and add a trim pot/resistor to try to fine tune this spot.

Any thoughts?

I would advise against it. I experience the same issue with my Ace Edge. I have craked open a Hori before, and while it's fairly simple, the slightest miscalculation could send the whole project to the garbage can. The throttle is basicly an oversized potentiometer, and adding a resistor is going to change the overall performance, not just part of it. Basicly, either way you are just going to have to learn the controlls. Why spend the money? They all have a sweet spot, just before the lock bar.

Thanks for the feedback, guys- at least it sounds like this is to be expected with this stick. Since we're all waiting for a fix for the wheel brakes, I may as well sit tight and see if this is something they address in any future updates. What would be most excellent is a calibrate feature where you set your desired "off" point, "100%" point, and "max" point for your particular device. This could help get rid of the slop at the beginning of the throttle as well. Low hanging fruit, I suppose.

Depending on what comes down the line, I may poke around and see what the Ace-Edge guts look like. I'm fairly experienced with electronics, enough so to usually know when I'm getting over my head.

In fact, depending on how the communication between the throttle and flight stick is handled, this could possibly be done with a simple in-between box with a male and female D-sub connector (or the like). Hopefully the D-sub is just passing analog rather than digital signals.

I know the older Hori sticks used an analog signal to the main stick then everything went through a choke converter to the usb output. However, with the introduction of the XBOX card, they may have changed it.

I think that the Ace-Edge/Hori is only for Xbox, but there are some other threads out there discussing the PS3 sticks. Good luck.
