Default Software to change screenshot to comic

Hi,

I'd like to make an IL2 screenshot look something like an Enemy Ace cartoon strip. I have PSP X but am not happy with how a picture looks when I try to make it look like a comic strip.

Can anyone suggest software that will be easy for someone (who is impatient) to use?

Cheers

Irfanview is one of the most popular tools for converting Targa (.tga) files into .bmp or .jpeg files. It's certainly quicker to use than PSP.

Take a look - maybe one of the plug-ins will offer the function you need. It's all free, btw.

I use Gimp 2.6. If you Google it you will find a download link, it is freeware. Here is a just one sample of the cartoon effect, it can be adjusted to suit.

I just found this plugin for Gimp:http://registry.gimp.org/node/15994. It applies a comic effect. To use it, click on the comicbook.scm link, copy the text and paste it into Notepad. Go to save as in the file menu. Where it says save type as, select all files and put .scm after the name of the file. Save it in the folder c:\program files\gimp 2.0\share\gimp\2.0\scripts folder. The effect looks like this:

Hmm I've installed GIMP and the plug-in but can't get anything to look as good as that Blenheim. Can you type a very short guide?

There is not much to type about. If you are using the plugin, just go to:Filters/Artistic/Comic-Book1. Thats all I did. Perhaps the difference lies within the image itself. The image I used was a preview of the SOW:BOB Blenheim, it is not from IL2. This is the original image:http://files.games.1c.ru/il2pict/Blenheim_MK-I_01.jpg. You can also use other effects such as:Filters/Artistic/Softglow. If this doesn't help, you should go to http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/. There are lots of people there who can help. Good luck
