Default Can we request an update?

Should explain, I lurk madly - rarely have anything to add so usually just read. I'm most certainly a newbie within this community and know my place However, the frustration I feel at hearing absolutely nothing for what - 4 months now? is maddening.

Nearmiss, I hope you let this post stand as it's not intended as developer bashing. Most of the discussion surrounding the lack of updates was purged from the thread above, and tbh you were quite correct in doing so. Nevertheless, I do feel that there ought to be at least one thread expressing the most heartfelt concern of the community.

I believe this desire/concern is for some sort of comment from Oleg, or his team, to let us know all is well.

Many years ago I whole-heartedly endorsed Id's policy of 'It'll be done when it's done' and I completely support any developer who wants to 'get it right' and ignore publishing timetables.

I comprehend and appreciate any company's desire to keep new tech secret as long as possible to maximise profitability of old tech; I bought TrackIR4 a month or so ago. Bit annoyed, but am cool with their decision to keep their 5th iteration private.

But I cannot understand why Oleg's team refuse to speak with the community anymore.

When Oleg made his 'regular updates' thread on the SimHQ forums everything looked peachy, and I do believe he wished to make regular updates at that point. What I don't understand is why the communication has become so sparse, to the point of being non-existent.

Speaking just for myself, I'm worried that the funding has become an issue, though Oleg denied that being the case previously. Nevertheless, I find it hard to convince myself that this may not be the problem. I really hope it isn't. If it was, I'd be wanting to help.

I support Oleg and his team 100% and I am sure there is good reason for this course of evetns but it would be so reassuring just to hear something, even if it's just a 'nothing to report'.

I hope this post stays; it's no way critical of Oleg: if there was nothing more after IL2, he would still be a god to me. I just want to understand why we can't be allowed any information or updates on the progression of SOW. Why must we be kept in the dark?

1) The Oleg Maddox #2 thread is a questions and requests theread directed to Oleg. Simply, put it's not about discussion but directed to Oleg. He does not have time to weed through 12 pages of verbal abuse to read the few pages of real questions.

2) There is information prohibited in postings, but it's about MODS only.

3) Regular forums rules apply to all other postings.

Hope I explained that well enough

As with the picture, question is: Does it change anything.

Must we really have updates? What would another few blue-screen WiP shots really do for you anyway?
Some vague, "Sure, no" Q&A session won't go far to enlighten or satisfy anybody either. It'll just give you more questions that will go unanswered, continuing this ridiculous cycle.

Much better to forget about this Storm of whatever and let this forum return to the discussion of the Il-2 series. It's what it was made for after all.

I tell you mates, the sooner you put it out of your mind, the happier you'll be.
I've been through this whole begging for updates thing for years now. I've wasted a significant chunk of my precious life, scrounging for tiny scraps of information on a something that is no nearer release than it was two years ago. Well, I'm over it now. And I have to say, I feel much better for it too.

I'm still kind of excited about SoW, don't get me wrong. But more in an abstract sort of way. The same way I'm excited about Mars colonisation, or the chance of winning the lottery. I'd prefer not to feel this way. I'd love to have that sense of hope and anticipation that I had in the old days, but they've pretty much seen to that.

Ah well... You reap what you SoW.
