Default I too have this problem

I can't play this game anymore because of this problem.

I played for many hours without a problem, but when I made it to the land of the dead, 2 different battles will cause the game to crash 100% of the time. There is one battle on the map that will cause my game to crash 100% of the time, and also the final battle with the Crystal will cause my game to crash 100% of the time, so the game is completely broken.

Every time after the game exits to the desktop, my taskbar tells me that DEP closed the program. Unfortunetly, I can't turn DEP off for just this game.

Does anyone out there care that the game doesn't work?

Guys, post some details of your configuration if you have time. Maybe we could find something in common that's causing this (I have the same problem).
OS: 64-bit Vista Ultimate
CPU: Intel i7 920
Mem: 6GB
Audio: Realtek HD (onboard)
Video: Geforce GTX 260 (January 22 drivers)

All in-game settings are on high. AF is set to 4X. Vsync is on.

I know people running 64-bit Vista who haven't had any problems, so it might be a specific piece of hardware or a game setting.

I looked in Event Viewer (Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer if you're using classic view) and here's the event when the game crashes:
Faulting application kb.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x48e5fee9, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a783, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0002f217, process id 0x130c, application start time 0x01c98594f8c46390

So "faulting module ntdll.dll" might be a clue, particularly if you guys are getting the same message.

Look for the other DEP error thread on the last page. I described how to turn off DEP so you can play the game so it's up to you whether to do it or not. (btw its most likely not your system spec. as this happens to a lot of people even with different programs/games)

Wasn't really planning to register on the forum, but I also have had a lot of these DEP crashes, and I think I've fixed it in my case.
Like most others, the crashes were rare at the beginning, but got worse later on in the game. I got to Ellinia and the crashes made the game almost unplayable. I think I tried every single solution the forum offered except for turning DEP completely off.

When billharris44 mentioned the event viewer, I figured I might as well check, and I found the faulting module to be named nvd3dum.dll.
I googled it, and found it to be related to Nvidia drivers.
So I did a complete uninstall of drivers (had quite a few on top of each other), installed the newest driver and tried the game.
I've played the game for several hours now, through many long battles, and the game hasn't crashed. I got some problem with flickering light, but I turned of antialiasing and it disappeared.

This probably won't help everyone. I think a patch is needed, but maybe this can help those who just install drivers on top of old ones (like me).
It seems pretty much everyone with the problem have a nvidia card.
If you check the event viewer and see something to do with nvd, then it's probably the drivers messing things up.
Some events were marked as unknown however so I might get a few crashes later. As long as it's only once in a while, and not every single battle, I'm happy.

Now I'll try to actually finish the game. I will probably start again for the third time since my mage is pretty bad. Got a little unlucky with the map, and weren't as good at planning so maybe I'll try again with my greater knowledge.

Yeah well I am having the same issue at one specific point (entering the cyclops cave in hadar) and I disabled DEP and it did nothing. I also checked the eventviewer and it shows faulting module unknown.
