I am having trouble purchasing troops for my reserve slot...I was only able to put troops in there that I happened to find in a grave...one thing I haven't tried were using eggs to fill that slot with troops but I would rather buy a decent troops instead. Is this possible?

I don't believe you can send purchased troops directly to your reserve slots. What you have to do instead is before you go in to the shop, fully move one of your troops to your reserve to create an empy slot in one of the 5 main slots, and then go in and purchase new troops.
The only awkward thing about this is that you can't swap different sets of troops back and forth between your main slots and reserve slots if you don't have an empty slot somewhere to work with. The workaround for this is go to one of the castles. Each castle has three garrison slots on the left hand side of the page, towards the bottom. You can move troops into there to create an empty slot in your troop compliment, and then re-organize from there. Hope that helps. |

I haven't tried adding troops to the reserve slot directly that I can recall - but when you are buying troops, look for a small button directly above your troops to show your reserve slots.

I also did not know about the three empty slots at a castle...this is very useful...I wonder if they are left there permanently so you can go back and use them if you want later in the game? |

Yeah I missed that little arrow at first too. I normally use the garrison slots to store store a backup set of troops to replace ones I've lost in battle, such as archers or dryads.
And yes, once you've garrisoned troops at a castle they're there until you take them out or dismiss them. |

You can actually put as many troops of the same type as you want into the reserve slot. I just found that out yesterday and it was quite useful. So you can pretty much put one group of royal snake in your current troop and put all the reserved royal snake into the reserve slot. That saves your time to go back to some awkward locations to buy these troops.
