Noob Item Question

I just started playing, and I'm a bit confused on what items I can equip and how to do it.

I dont seem to be able to put any of the items into the equipment slots.

I dont have a lot of items but I've got the starter sword and bought that shield from the first keep, I also have boots, a hat and some regalia. I've also tried the shield from the second keep in Arlania. All are either Human or Neutral and I'm playing a Warrior

If I right click on them in my Inventory I get the options Info or Drop. Left click does nothing and I cant drag and drop.

I've tried looking through the forums for an hour but couldnt find a similar question

I've tried that - if I left click (or right click for that matter) I still cant drag items, nor do any slots become highlighted.

Should I be able to equip the starter sword or the shield from the first keep ?

I'm not sure if this is a bug or me being stupid

Make sure you let go of the mouse button after you left click. Remember when you equipped the starter sword? You do it the same way. If you still can't, you might want to try starting a new game just to see if you can still put the starter sword on.

Click and drag doesn't work, just left-click on an item and your pointer will grab the item, then you can place it in the appropriate slot. If you can't do that it might be some sort of glitch, if you have any special mouse software it might have something to do with it. Also post your system specs, it might help to know what you're running the game on.
