Default Elven islands - is my hero too weak?

here is a screenshot

I guess he is still weak although I didn't try fighting not to lose too much of my army, how many levels/qwhat other things should I change/improve before I go there? I still didn't clear Kordar (demon vilage etc)
thanks

A Mage depends on magic to deal with enemies. You should have saved your runes for higher magic, and level 3 distortion and chaos magic. You need to get more intelligence and mana boosting artifacts. Also, get some Emerald Dragons if you can.

I was trying to get the spell which transforms priests to inquisitors so I spent too many of the runes but I'll upgrade spells as soon as possible, mana usually isn't a problem and I buy any useful artifacts whenever I get a chance to do so
thanks for the tips! where do I get those dragons by the way?

The skill that transforms priests into inquisitors is not worth it. Instead, get the sacrifice spell, it's a chaos spell lets you sacrifice units from one group of creatures to increase the numbers of another group, so you can sacrifice a bunch of peasants to increase the numbers of powerful creatures like dragons or giants.

Creatures are randomly generated but there's a good chance of finding Emerald Dragons in a shop on one of the islands around Elven lands.

I got sacrifice wish I knew about the skill not being worth, I discovered this forum only yesterday and there's no shrine to unlearn stuff as in HOMM V

ok, lol, I got another tactic.. I lifted up my intellect a bit (its 20 now) and got instantly replenishable units (plenty of them to hire), I can still beat Kordar effortlessly so I'll pick up some more runes and xp there!

here is a new screenshot

I'm suprised you're not having mana problems. If you return the crown to the Griffin King you could end up a a nice painting after the 2nd quest.

Spell power takes a big jump after every 7 points of Intellect so get it to 21 as soon as possible.

I really like starting games of King's Bounty but if you don't you'll be able to get through it. However I think I would choose to restart and not waste ruins on Inquisition.

intellect is 21 now, I am almost done with kordar (lvl17, halfway to 1, I just found summon phoenix spell, hope I'll make the right choice which troops to use in Elven lands!
if I found forum earlier I wouldn't make such mistakes but now I really played way too much to start all over, I am playing too much instead of studying for exam anyway

Splattergirl, the intellect levels good more Mage Worthy now

Three pieces of Advice:

- Change the insignia! Unless my eyes are deceiving me, thats the insignia you would have picked up during the tutorial (leadership +20 only)! There is WAY better stuff out there.

- Get your chaos level to 3, and start casting level 3 chaos spells. The mage shines there

- Get Higher magic! Another mage necessity! It lets you cast two spells on turn 1 at level 1.

You'll start feeling the mana crunch soon as well . 79 is pretty low for a mage
