Default Dump CloD!!!!

I posted this in another thread.. but it was such a release that I had to get it off my chest in a seperate thread..

Look my take on it is this.. Yes... CoD was a pig out of the gate.. granted.. Old news. It has gotten better.. but regardless, it is a player and it has a spot in the pantheon of WWII sims over the past decade for better or worse.. and even though there was a lot of worse.. especially initially ... there is a lot of better.. especially now so one way to reflect that is you guys need to STOP calling this sim CloD. PLEASE... PLEASE.... PLEASE stop calling it CloD.

PLEEEEAAASSEEE!!!!

Check it...

Quote:
clod (kld)
n.
1. A lump or chunk, especially of earth or clay.
2. Earth or soil.
3. A dull, stupid person; a dolt.
[Middle English, variant of clot, lump; see clot.]
Yeah guys I get it.. I do .. You didn't want to confuse this product with Call of Duty.. but do you really think that anyone would connect aircraft with Call of Duty? Or that FPS CoD junkies would actually GAF about a G50 or how it was modeled? Besides... that was then.. this is now... Think about it...

SO WHAT if it's the same acronym! DUMP CloD. DUMP THAT HANDLE!!!

Clod... CLOD!! YIKES!! GADZOOKS man I could never bring myself to even use the term.. and fans of the sim are.. wait for it... waaaaiit for it.... Clodites??!!!

WTF!!

C'mon guys.. fugheddabouddit.. forget Clod. Turn that page.. rip it out of the book and burn that sucker. Hell if you want to distinguish it from Call of Duty then do the extra work and type IL2CoD .... ANYTHING but CloD ....

BoS is coming and unless it tanks.. which I highly doubt.. It will wind up, I think being the WWII sim of choice.. even if just for a while.. (I got no crystal ball ... ). This RRG/DCS thing is coming.. but we don't know much about it yet, but CoD is here and it is a much better product that it was.. and you have a dedicated team of modders out busting their chops trying to knit that silk purse together.. so dump that looser moniker.

Forward -------> Keep the genre alive!!

A Big +1 to the OP

My experiences with Cliffs of Dover has always been quite positive and enjoyable (mainly fly online). And through the various community efforts it’s getting even better. It is a pity that its potential was never met during its commercial development.

I can’t but help associate the term “CloD” with the unwarranted negativity that polluted this board from well before the Sims release. It just made it unpleasant to visit this board and had no useful purpose.

I’d just like to take this opportunity to make a shameless plug for CODFA - The Cliffs of Dover Fanboi's Association!

And Please do not confuse us with CODAF - the Cliffs of Dover Association of Fanboi's :spit: - who are, as we all should know, complete clods and a pack of whining splitters - may their hard drives fail catastrophically at the most inopportune time! :SPIT:

Pfft. CloD's what it was, is, and shall be for me. I've stuck with it, fought its corner, invested in it when I can, and I shall call it CloD out of affection and appreciation for the sim it has become and the brilliant but incompletely executed sim it once was.

CloD means a piece of earth, nothing more valuable than that.

.
I agree. If I use CloD instead of CoD it is out of affection.
It was a very promising game that never quite got there. The game was a bit of a clod and still is.
