Most popular threads are about new planes added to our beloved game. We are aware that it’s mostly (if not all) daydreaming, but what’s wrong about it? Occasionally, someone remember that we already have a formidable plane set, but we go ahead asking as insatiable kids. Now, for a change, I’ll daydream of something different. What about new ways to use the wealth we already have? The first thing coming to my mind was more flexibility in offline pilot’s careers. Somewhere we talked about the feasibility to change from blue to red side (Italy after armistice, for example), but why not mix a little bomber and fighter careers? Or allow for some what if speculation?
In the end, the really winning solution would be a FCB, or a Full Career Builder. Retaining the basic mission generator, FCB should give control on: map and date, number and type of missions, type of aircraft involved for each mission or group of missions. And to fine-tune the whole, control on weather, AI pilots experience, units involved, camouflage and markings. I have no idea at how much or how little feasible such a scheme could be, and I’m sure someone somewhere had already made this proposal, perhaps someone even really did it; in that case, with what results? And were I can instantly download it? If nothing of this kind is available, what do you think about? Isn’t it good at least for some grand dreaming? |

I do like the overall idea, but there are so many options that would be really nice, that we probably can't have because they'd be too much work, but here are some of them anyway:
The ability to extend the available planes for current careers (sometimes it's F4F3, only, for one section of a career, or woirse only F4F3 and only F4F3 for two consecutive sections of a career (or some other particular aircraft, depending on the career), and that's boring) The ability to set the waypoints for a mission within a career (currenty, they seem to be mainly aimed at making sure you fly over enemy flak, and avoid gaps in enemy flak, and that's exactly what real planners wouldn't do). The ability when you command a squadron to pick which members go on which missions in which positions in which flights, currently it seems to be more or less random and you have no say in it. There must be diozens more, but those will do for now. |
