Hello everyone
i am an enthusiastic airplane modeller and flight simulator player.
Years ago i got wonderful "IL-2 Sturmovick" and some of its add-on...

Now, after a lot of time, i would return to play it again...
but i saw that there is a "IL-2 Sturmovick 1946" ...is it the same game i got many years ago with "IL-2 Sturmovick" name?...or is another one?

Thank You

Both.

It is the same as it is the "final" version of Il2-Sturmovik - the game engine is still the same.
On the other hand, it has undergone many changes since then, and TONS of content have been added, so it is different from the original. And it is still beeing worked on, the next patch to version 4.12 is due in a few weeks.

If you liked the original Il-2, and if you want to know if Il-2 1946 is worth buying -IMHO: Yes it is. It includes any official add-on ever made and should be available very cheap.

Cliffs of Dover should have been the successor to IL2. But as it did not turn out as it was supposed to - and there is no more offical development going on. But modders are trying to improve it -see here:

The game received a big facelift and was expanded by the modding community (2008-13) to include WW1, SCW, WW2, Korea, Vietnam. Get HSFX6 modpack for 4.11 or DBW 1.71 for 4.10. if you can.
