Default Loss of function of escape key

The function of the escape key to end the mission is suddenly not working.
I can't get out of a mission or end it without resorting to the ctrl-alt-del method which ends the game. I don't see any thing in controls that lets you assign a key to ending a mission.....any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

S!

I get my keys stuck in IL-2 all the time. Nothing on the keyboard seems to translate into the game when it happens. What works for me is to hit all the ctrl, alt and shift keys in a row (not all the same time) and then alt-tab out of the game, click the task bar to get back in game again, and now everything works again. Rinse and repeat if did not work for the first time.

Have you assigned the escape key to one of the controls in the controls options, perhaps by accident ? I'm not sure if il2 would allow you to do that, but if it was possible then I doubt it would then function as the mission end key.
I know it sounds a bit daft but it was the only thing I could think of that might be causing your problem.

Open the conf.ini file in the root directory of your IL2 1946 installation

Make sure this line is in there.

[HotKey gui]
Escape=activate
