Default Help needed to tidy up the mess....

Well,

I am an old timer just returning to my installation for some flying -

game version 4.10.1 + HSFX 5.0.1

First question:

Should I patch to 4.11 + 4.11.1? What happens then with the HSFX mod? Should I uninstall HSFX, patch and reinstall HSFX 6.0? How do I uninstall HSFX? Do I need HSFX with patch 4.11? (6DOF for example)

Second question:

I am trying to get some order in my campaign options. At the moment, I have a few alternatives for germany marked with a * and in russian. Do these come from/with HSFX? Can´t remember I ever installed any campaigns in russian.

Is campaign compatibility strict with which game version I have? Meaning older campaigns won´t work with later patches? So all 4.09's for example, won´t show up if I am at 4.10.1? This would seem bad, because I haven´t seen any campigns at M4T for later versions than 4.10.

Thanks in advance,
cheers

Best bet is to do a clean install of the game and patch it to v4.11.1, then install HSFX6 on the clean install.

Other option is to disable HSFX5 in JSGME so that the game starts as the stock version. Then remove or disable the JSGME folder by renaming it. Patch the game to v4.11.1 so that it starts ok as a stock version, then install HSFX6. A new JSGME folder will be created.

very important what crash said...
dont forget: you can just copy around installations without problems, and hard disk place is cheap now.
Always keep a clean, basic, unmodded installation, copy it to experiment around, as often as you need...

Wait.....copy the installation folder and just move it? Doesn´t it mess with registry paths and keys and such?

I know. I might. It´s just quite some work when you´re low on time, plus it´s running nicely as it is.

I do have an idea though as to why I see campaigns in russian:

seems I have installed a mod called "Nations And Squadrons". Adds new countries. And those russian campaigns.

thanks for replies
