hello,
normally in the old IL 2 sim I could lock the tail wheel of the Bf 110 with the key [S]. Now with CoD I assigned the Tail wheel lock to the key [S] again, but it does not work ![]() Thanks for your help, joda |

Happens to my Hurricane as well: Tried to lock the tail wheel from cockpit view (like the canopy toggle or parachute jump) as well, but doesn´t work with the key (L) assigned. |

The Bf 110 has no tail wheel lock.
The later E-series introduced a self-centering flutter-break for the tail-wheel, recognizable on the scissor link. This was used in all later variants. So no tail-wheel lock at all. Edit: just for info, the damping of the tail-wheel flutter-break is 53-62 Nm. Last edited by Kodoss; 11-20-2012 at 08:08 AM. |

Hello, thank you for your feedback! Do you have any idea how to avoid the unstable movement (kind of swimming) of the plane during the acceleration for take off?

The possibility to keybind the tail-wheel lock was described as more or less a continuity thing with respect to Il-2 1946 - actually, I'm not sure if it works in any of CoD's planes.
Regarding taking off: Well, you must rely mostly on your rudder, perhaps peppered with left/right wheelbrakes (if you have single ones) and/or asymetric engine thrust (if you fly a multi-engine aircraft). Mostly, you're left with just the rudder, but don't worry, you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. Just react to your "swimming" with bold rudder input, and ease off when you're picking up speed and rudder effectiveness increases. |

If you have rudder pedals, use them.
If not, buy some! Was one of my best investments ever. |
