Default graphics card update

Hi,

My system is an AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core 2.2ghz & just upgraded from Windows XP to 7 64bit, & oh joy - can fly around london without the game freezing despite only having 3 gb of RAM.

However, there are little square patches of red on the screen. I assume this is because my system is now running Direct X 11 & my graphics card, being a GEForce Nvidia 9800 GT (1gb) which only supports Direct X 10.

I'm looking to puchase an GEForce Nvidia GT610 which is a 2gb ddr3 memory card as they are on offer at the moment from a localshop - don't want to spend a lot on a graphic card at present as just bought Windows 7, thought not at the retail price.

Has any one got this card & how are they finding it on CoD? In the past the graphics cards I've bought have an on board fan, whereas this hasn't. I've plenty of space in my base & have 2 fans on the front of the case sucking in fresh air & obviously a large fan on the rear to exhause hot air, so despite what the manufactuers say, is there an overheat issue?

DX is backwards compatible. However if your card is DX9 it will run the game in DX9 even thought W7 supports DX10 and DX11.

It sounds like you may have some bad video ram on the old card.

Going by its number, that's a really, really weak card, and probably not powerful enough to play CloD at all.

The first number in a graphics cards number is usually a year, so it's current, but the second is 1 to 9 on strength, and one is the lowest. A GF 520 if there is such a thing would probably be better, and it still probably wouldn't play CloD.

People here are saying GF 560s are good enough, and the new 660 Ti by all accounts beats the GF 570 and gives the GF 670 a run for it's money, but the GF 610? there's not a chance that's going to be adequate for CloD even with all the lowest possible settings selected. It's much weaker than a GF 9800 GTX.

Look at GPU review, they don't even have that card in their review database:

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards....=650&card2=575

or Tom's Hardware:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ew,3107-7.html

No sign of the GF 610 in that, which I am pretty sure means it's not gaming capable.
