Smile A stupid test.

Hello,
I see everywhere peoples writing about « fps » it must be important so I have tried to test it in a methodical way.
First my PC;
CPU I7 975 3.3 Ghz (overclock 3.75 Ghz) it is very stable.
MB Asus P6X58D Premium X58 Intel Tylersburg chipset
Memory 12279 Mo (DDR3-1600 Mhz DDR3 SDRAM)
Bios AMI
SLI 2* NVIDIA Geforce GTX580 1582672 KB.
Audio Realtek ALC889
System SSD OCZ-green EX3 120GB
Samsung 23 inch screen 2ms 1920*1200 60 Mhz AAx8
Logitech G940 joystick
Trust optical game mouse.

Game version 1.07.18301.

The mission was always the same a quick mission over London, my first manoeuvre was to go to low altitude then trough London Tower bridge along Big Ben then right of Buckingham Palace (horror corner r0) around Buckingham palace back to big Ben (see picture of "horror corner 2") then trough London Tower bridge again all this in 2.30 minutes.

“Launcher.exe” crashes there where many. Note has –crash- occurred when I tried to reload after modification without exiting game.

The tests;
Settings;
Very high with ssao with vsync fps min 7 -crash-
Very high without ssao with vsync fps min 6 -crash-
Very high without ssao without vsync fps min 6 -crash-
High with ssao with vsync fps min 6 -crash-
High without ssao with vsync fps min 6 -crash-
High with ssao without vsync fps min 6 -crash-
High without ssao without vsync fps min 12 -crash-
Medium with ssao with vsync fps min 15 r1 -crash- r2
Medium without ssao with vsync fps min 18 -crash-
Enough crashes I stop my tests.

R0; Horror corner is the left corner of Buckingham palace;

and there is a second one (a second horror corner) ;

where there is a sharp drop of fps or a big stutter!
r1; The min fps at medium setting was 45 until the passage at “Horror corner” .
r2; There was a second crash due to the exit due to the change in the graphic from high to medium settings, strange because the first time the game did not memorize the change then did not crash and memorize the change!
Last remark; There is an obligation to verify and set graphic settings modifications after each crash of the “Launcher.exe” because it never does memorize the modifications otherwise.

P.S. Why did I never note the other fps scores? They are always the same witch ever settings I use the other fps scores do change only a little.

Have fun

interestig test.Perhaps one test is missing. You should do it whit only one graphic card. They told us one more time yesterday that the sli mode was not supported.

Also why are you recording the minimum and not the average? ...and the crash when leaving single player is a known bug.

Since I installed some 3 months ago my second graphic card I did feel and notice a 10% increase of fps... even if the game does not support this feature. Sorry but I am not unmounting my second graphic card to test this.

Just disable SLI in NVidia control panel.

This, if you think there a problem with SLI enabled just disable it in your NVidia Control Panel and try again.

Through I remember a thread where some members made a working SLI profile for CLOD, The NVidia Control Panel itself give options to create a SLI profile and select the SLI mode to test.

I´ll blind shot and say that maybe not all of them but those crashes can be caused by your overclocked CPU.

Maybe the overclock is unstable and the Launcher.exe is just locking down, that's why it did not created a dump file before close itself.

You can try test the game at CPU´s default clock, if there no crashes then you found the culprit.

.
For the crases I am certain it is not the CPU nothing else does crash. I never got any dump files even before I tried to overclock my CPU it it since I installed the last Alpha/Beta patch 1.07.
For the sli I do not know I have only one other game on my PC and it is ROF not the best game to test it because every type of PC does run ROF is it not?
I have tested the game again with SLI min fps at High level 07 without sli min fps high level 11 but when I try with sli but with the physx to cpu fps min high level 09 I did more than one test and got always nearly the same results.

About overclocking, the main goal of any overclock attempt is stability, its not good enough with load Windows and jump into the desktop because your CPU can be unstable under a big load of process, it can go into Windows and run low demanding programs and then crash on the high demanding ones, that´s why the overclockers runs burning tests for hours, to reach a 100% stable overclock.

you seems to know about this so I'm not saying this to you but to the audience for everyone sake.

What is for sure is that the performance of your computer is strange, I have better results with my ancient and burned dual core and my cheaper ATI 5870, I had a quick fly over your places and this is what I got

First all this is my configuration at 1920x1200 :

* Note that AA is off because I´m using SMAA :

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?p=409386

It is enabled in his preset SMAA_PRESET_CLOD_HIGH.

Screenshots :

But not all was well ...

The result is better than yours, it still low FPS but good enough for my hardware, and the only crash I had is the one in the picture.

I can have nice fights just avoiding London, over usual landscape 30-40 FPS at low altitude and without problems over the chanel (over 50 FPS).

Im happy with this performance, its good enough to have some clashes but I'm building a new rig, new board and quad-core CPU, and also looking for a 3GB videocard too

Hope you get your problems sorted, cheers ...

Guess some should read FS~Phat's article in the technical posts about settings and ram usage. I have a system much lower in performance than most but use Sli. I have included some screen shots low down near Tower Bridge similar to the posts here along with screens of my video settings. I have only a 19" monitor so my resolution is 1280 x 960. As you will see there can be a major difference in performance by turning down some (not all) settings.
See my sig for system. I'm also using Nvidia inspector and have experimented with Sli set up.

As you will see from the screens of London in the top RH corner the V/ram is at full use but the rest of the system is well balanced . My cards are from different stables and the Asus has always run cooler than the EVGA.
