Default Is CoD going to be patched to a 'final state' ?

Hello,

I'm sorry to ask I've seen many times the devs keep being enthusiastic with CoD.
On my part it's clear that I completely forget the first day CoD was out, it's a while ago.
Today, I can merely fly online with my mates up to the hot spots, then due to many lacks in (graphic engine ?) I either

have a drop in a ratio of 1:10 in frames per seconds
loose the enemy as they seem to disappear like ghosts

and on top, my controls are lagegd (they are a small portion of a second behind the actual joystick moves).

CoD is meant to be marvellous but please could it be possible to end with an alpha or beta of the game, which it did not evade from since its first release ?

I can't help thinking that nowadays there are some high end games running much better than cod like crysis 2 on my hardware.

It is sad that the level of finishing of old IL-2 1946 cannot be met. But I really hope it will be one day, that must be a reward for CoD if the dev ever want to change it.

It is clear that we have something between one of the most realistic sim and one of the most rough surfaced software I have seen, not a mix that I think ever existed before.

I'm respectful for the job already done. I guess we all expect the day when the servers will fill up with very large air battles taking place.

There's no, absolutely no way this is going to happen on a properly configured game.

If you've got a weak pc and have all-out settings, that's where I would start to look. And no, crysis 2 is not a modern flight simulation benchmark.

I certainly hope not. In the years to come, as flight and damage models improve I want to come back and re-explore COD.

Skoshi, you're saying you want it to remain as boring as it is for offliners, so you can maybe come back one day and find something you might have missed?

The more finished it is, the more content there is, thus the more there is to explore.

S!

For me it can only get better as the latest beta patch solved a lot of performance issues for me. So basically this expected final patch will just improve things further I think. FM/DM/CEM need a lot of work still though. Seems a bit that lessons from original IL-2 were not carried over in full scale for some reason as we have the similar "features" in current FM that original has.

@jf1981

CloD was last officially "steam" patched in October of 2011.

No official announcement yet on the next "steam" patch, although,
it is as imminent as it was last December.

Hope and patience are your friends on these forums.

I wonder how many more patches George Lucas will apply to Star Wars?

@jf1981 and to the whole com: In graphic issues, please never compare it to the actual fps games, because it is like comparing a truck with a race car.

I hope you know, that a new fps game is getting smaller and smaller viewing distances to get the graphics managed. Viewing distance = always fps killer. And we are talking about distances 100 times more than in crysis. Just to add that fact to your comparison.
Games with high viewing ranges and large areas nowadays uses streaming engines, which are still not as sufficient than normal engines. I dont know any game with large areas and imressive details, graphics and viewing range combined in a fully satisfying performance. It is simply very difficult.

To you question: Never! -» also because there will be always new features, which will requested and which will cause new relations between the features -» new bugs and new fixing!
I will be glad to get a stable version for everyone and with corrected flight models and many possibilities for the com to generate fun!

actually the fps killer is not the distance, is the amount of polygons rendered. a space simulation can be very fast, also if the galaxy is far far away.
