Default 6DOF getting "stuck" around the gunsight

S!

Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with the 6dof head tracking when moving head around?

The issue I am having is something like this:
Every time I move my head on the X,Y-plane (I have Z disabled), my virtual head gets somewhat stuck when the gunsight is on the center of the reflector glass (as in, virtual head pretty much centered). This "detent" is slightly to the right in the 109, corresponding to the sight being a bit on the right side.

I can understand that the head stops if I move my head too far left, right or up, I hit the canopy of course, but what is this detent in the middle of the movement? It's quite annoying, causes my virtual head to bounce around when I try to get my head free from what ever is holding it still

I have no deadzone in the tracking, only slight curving towards the middle, but I have also tested this to be present also with totally straight track curve.

No such issues in old IL-2.

Do you have your profile set up to be exclusive, or is perhaps another game being detected and run instead of CoD? I had a similar problem, and never figured out which game profile was being loaded, so I use the "smooth" profile set to exclusive when firing this game up.

i have my trackir profile set to exclusive as well, otherwise it will just switch to the default profile automatically as soon as i start cliffs of dover(dont know the reason for that)
what i have done to avoid this center detent, is adjusting my profile according to it.
the default trackir profiles, all have their curves ending in the center of the axis 0/0, or at least tend to increase the closer to the center they get.
if you just have the pitch axis for example as a horizontal line, it will not stuck anymore in center view.or at least it will be not that apparent anymore and certainly not to an extent where it gets annoying.

Might have something to do with when you are zoomed in (like in shift-f1 mode) it seems to restrict the movement ability (try using padlock view when zoomed in to see it) and you cant view past certain angles.

S!

Oh, sorry, forgot to mention: FreeTrack

But I doubt that this is FT related. I of course have own profile for CoD which is the same as for old Il-2 except with all axes toned down as it seems CoD seems to translate the axes with more sensitivity.

In some planes, especially roomier ones like He111 I don't have this detent.

I never use the gunsight view, messes with my B&Z style flying too much

I thought, that, but changing IL-2 to the smooth profile didn't fix the problem I had. I suspect it's WRC or something racing.

Hi,

are you sure that the smooth profile was saved correctly? Will you check it from Title tab.

After change you have to restart the program.

After restart you will see saved profile.

It works perfectly for me.

Sorry my bad english, i hope you undestand what i meant

I understand your intent perfectly

Yes, I'm sure the IL-2 1946 profile saves with the "Smooth" profile, but somehow it's not the smooth profile when I fire up CoD. It's much more similar to my racing profiles, which is why I think its either WRC, or maybe GTR2, or DIRT3.

At any rate, it's easy to switch profile to exclusive when turning on TrackIR before I fire up CoD, so the problem is minor now.

Could someone of you (TrackIR users) test this in the 109 + some other fighter, AND in some roomier plane, like 110 or He111. The detent problem only seems to trouble me in the 109 it seems, now that I tested it more.

I really don't see this could be any profile/curve related problem. If it would, I'd guess it should affect all planes.
