Default Beta Issues and Video settings?

Whilst many are reporting positive performance gains others are suffering more CTD and LE crashes. My initial tests on my system (with the Beta patch) seem to suggest a link between Game video option settings and 'frequency' of CTD.

Unfortunately, BS did not give us any information regards the settings they were using for for testing this beta patch or wether Trees, grass, shadows. etc should be disabled or left enabled. The variables are many and I would like to carry on testing but it is very time consuming.

Eg, If I set set Textures to Medium then CTD occurs within minutes in MP but setting to High setting gives me around 20 minutes, however textures HIGH results in Spitfire Mirror as just a frame. Textures = Medium = Mirror filled.

If anyone has found both SP and MP to be improved after installing the patch, it would be really useful to me (and others) if they would:-

a) post their game video settings.

b) wether they have the Red Square at launch as not everyone seems to suffer this which is odd.

Regarding b) I only got the red square once I had enabled Crossfire/True Full-screen.

really?are there people who dont have the red square at the launch of the game?i didnt know that.
interesting find with the high textures, will have to try that out, as i used medium textures until now.(strange thing is, that the med textures seem now to look like the high ones before the patch)

but im sorry evangeluse, i cant help you, as i experience crashes really often now.so my vid settings are certainly not the solution.but this thread could be interesting...

Thanks Krupi - Setting to 'Pseudo' corrects the Red Square glitch at launch - it also renders the Mirror with Textures HIGH. Will test Pseudo in MP for any improvement regards CTD.

Apart from the blury textures (which i had before to some extent, it's just that it's now more pronounced with the alpha patch), i get better performance overall in both MP and SP.

It's not that i actually get higher FPS (i'm limited by using Vsync anyway), what i get is much more stable FPS = less chance of stutters. Plus, not a single CTD while formation flying bombers and 110s on ATAG for 3-4 hours.

My specs:
i7 920 @ 2.7 GHz
3GB RAM
MSI Cyclone Ati 4890 1GB

My video settings:
Full screen mode
1680x1050 resolution
Vsync, roads, shadows, grass ON
SSAO, anti-epilepsy OFF
land shading, model detail HIGH
forests LOW
everything else MEDIUM

I haven't really experimented much, but i can confirm the lower CPU load. Previously, flying the Ju88 was putting enough strain on my CPU that it would overheat and force a reboot (i confirmed this by running monitoring/logging tools in the background). I had tried replacing my thermal paste, cleaning the cooling fans, lowering my settings and i also disabled hyperthreading in the BIOS, but it didn't help.

After the patch, i decided to specifically test this. I ended up flying Ju88s for 3 hours or so on my original settings and the problem was not there anymore.

If i get some spare time within the next couple of days i'll try changing my settings around slightly and experimenting.

If having problems, i guess the best test would be to disable what the patch notes say is incomplete and see if it solves anything. If it does, then it means we have to wait for the updated modules for these graphic elements before making a final judgement on it.
