Lightbulb CLOD Sound unstable

The sound in CLOD was going up and down,, very unstable.. I was flying in the ATAG server, and while flying, the engine sounds in a Spitfire were going up and down,, low and high.. I could not hear people talking on TeamSpeak3 because of the erratic engine sounds.. I wondered if there is already a thread for this? is this the right forum? It seemed better before today, maybe it was just a bad day on the server... do thers have this problem too?

the top sound slider is now set about 1/2 the way, the next 2 sliders, at the bottom, are all the way to the left (off) I think they are voice and music, both off..)

Win7 x64
Duo2Core 3 ghz cpu
Nvidia P7n MSI motherboard (built in sound)
4 gb DDR4 ram
PNY GTX460 video card with 1 gb ddr5 ram and 256 bit
500 gb of hard drive space... (3 hard drives...) (Sata and IDE both)
Saitek X52 Pro and Saitek Pedals.

I use COD software on Steam.

Thanx..

Have you checked your Teamspoeak settings? That programs tends to adjust volumes according to coms usage.

I use TeamSpeak all the time, I fly a bunch of hours in campaigns flying and using TeamSpeak 3... CLOD is the only one giving me the big problems... regular IL-2 doesn't do anything this bad,, only a difference between the engine sound from the side to the front...
Black Shark and A-10C, seem to be pretty stable..
in al these sims , whil using Team Speaks has a self adjust and changes the volume a bit when you hit PTT...

but again, only CLOD, it's radical changes going up and down by itself..
regardless if TeamSpeak is in listening mode with people not talking, or talking,,,
besides, I never said I was using TeamSpeak and taking when this occured,, but yet TS was on... but I was not chatting or pushing buttons when the sound was ramping up and down the full length of the scale..

so, basically, your answer is telling me you don't have any problems with CLOD sound?

I did a search and looked to see if there was a thread about sound problems.. I didn't see one, if there is maybe someone can point me to it.. if there isn't it means I was having a problem.. and it maynot be widespread...

I had a problem similar to yours, although off-line. I thought maybe the sound card was acting up, but found that all I had to do was push the plug in that silly little millimeter more. Things are fine, now.

Nope, no problem whatsoever here, only had the same expirience when using Teamspeak, so that was an educated guess. No idea then, maybe binkys tip will help you out. Good luck!

Unhappy

COD ... It's just too loud,, I can't tune the sound down... I have tried ito set it lower in the game, but it stays high... in single player and coop... if I set it to the lowest setting it's to low, and i can't hear the engine, if I bump the slider up a tiny bit it goes too loud...

weird...

I have tried all settings... I do use my Logitch USB headset with mic,,
I prefer that over using speakers... but oterwise, I have tried every setting... I flew without TeamSpeak on... and got the same result, if the shound is set too low, then I cannot hear the planes and engines at low rpm, or long distance, if I run the engines up faster, the sound explodes and is very loud... there is no in between, it's either full on or off... not a smooth transition..

and if I turn TeamSpeak on, I cannot hear people talk unless I either let the engine idle, or shut it off. When runing at normal speeds it's full loud... and that will only give me a headache..

same results online or offline, TS on or off...

maybe the ini file is screwed up or something... else...

This is the only flight sim that gives me so many sound problems, the others maybe not perfect, like in regular IL-2 1946, the sound is norma;l looking forward int he cockpit, but if I look to either side of the plane the sound goes up.. but at least that's the only screwy thing I can think of with all my flight sims..

I will keep checking stuff (computer stuff..).

Thanx,.

I have still the issue on Mulitplayer servers with exterior view, that I often can't hear the engine sound of other Spitfires. Even when I'm in a Spitfire myself and I switch to a friendly Spit, most of the time I just hear the sound of the wind and no engine sounds at all.
Sometimes the engine sounds are there and then the next moment they are gone again.
This happens only online and I guess also on Full Real servers. In this case it is just harder to tell as you can only hear others from your canopy. But when friendly/enemy Spits passing my view on a FR server I can't hear the engines most of the time, whereas it is definitely possible offline even with your own engine running.

Have you tried the settings in windows under Playback devices? What do you have for Playback Devices>Playback>Speakers (or Headphones)>Properties>Advanced>Exclusive mode? I wonder if you have something there allowing overwriting of game/windows settings?

Also (although shouldn't have any effect if you aren't running TS), check the Communications tab, make sure Windows is set to Do Nothing.

I am looking for these settings in Win7... the Windows help is up to it's old tricks leading me through bs....

I found these settings you listed,,

I had both items checked:
1)allow applications to take exclusive control of this device
2)give exclusive mode applications priority

I unchecked them both,
let's see if that makes a difference..

thanx..

Question

I am still having sound problems,, it is either too loud or not loud enough,, at low to idle, I can't hear it, but when I can hear it it's way too loud.. it should go from no sound to full and everything in between, instaed it's all or nothing... is there some files in some ini file that can be tweaked for sound?
I use Win7, with an MSI P7N motherboard, onboard sound.. core2duo 3 ghx cpu, nvidia gtx460 video card, etc..

al my other flight sims,, il-2 1946 and many versions, Black Shark, A-10C, and all work fine, just COD I have these problems..

thanx..
