Default Can't follow runway with Blenheim IV

I have been trying to practice bombing with Blenheim. I can get the engines running nicely and after temps reach 200 I take off. But I cannot follow the runway - the plane always turns 90 degrees starboard towards some buildings and hills, and I can't get enough speed before I hit something. Why? How can I take off with Blenheim? This is so frustrating...

I take it this is in the 'Cross Country Quick Mission'?

The easiest thing to do is to ignore the runway and allow the plane to turn to the right. There's a strong crosswind built into this mission (just watch the clouds moving) which makes it almost impossible to stay on the runway.

If you allow the plane to turn right, concentrate on avoiding the buildings, you should take off fine. Taking off into the wind is more important than following the runway on a grass airfield!

You do need full left trim and full left rudder in any case though, to counteract the torque of the engines. Reduce rudder as speed builds.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your response. Yes, it is the cross country mission. I will try to avoid the buildings. But, is it really realistic that such a big plane turns when standing still or moving slowly even if there is strong wind?

S!

Kind of strange why the mission puts you in a situation like that. Wouldn't it be more fun to get start normally instead of a juggle?

Nope. I've been flying in multiplayer now, no problems there.

I mean... Different problems. I've made many successful bombing runs, and when I'm on target, nothing happens when I release bombs!!! I've tried hitting bomb bay doors open, drop bombs, next/previous bomb distributor mode... And I've double checked I have bombs in the plane screen. This is driving me mad!

Or if you can with your hotas software, assign an arm and release, that way you'll never forget
