If you are in a 1V1 situation and co alt, I will try to extend enough to pull a hard turn 180 deg head on and take a shot. From there, if you have missed, you could go vertical and come down for possibly another head on or you can extend again.

Mind you team work is a much easier option

Since Hartmann with over 350kills knew what he was doing (while you obviously not) think Hartmann's way

And since you are becoming an expert in turning words, your correct think process should be:
Q: How do you effectively dogfight a spit with a 109 with equal E?
A: You don't. You just run away and wait for a spit with less E...

ROFL!

As long as you stay above 350km/h TAS you should be able to outturn them.

Nice help to see how to fight the opponent and know your mashine, even if it's for the old IL-2.

You can always drag him in a slow speed fight where you hve an edge.

If it is a Spit IIA... call Voodoo online they will nail him for you (figurine) at any time of the day or throw him a charm.

The spit turns inside a 109, the negative G and a dive seems to be an often used technique during real time.

I never saw a 109 able to escape, but Spit Ia is limited in power at the time, so against that, you should try to manage your energy and you should get in a good position that is by mainting alt/gaining alt if you can.

You can easily outclimb the Spit1/1a in any 109, without using WEP. so climb away, most break off sooner or later, than bounce him.
