Got COD for chrimbo and have been trying to get it working properly ever since. Even bought an extra 4 gigs and win 7 x64 with no avail.
The game keeps freezing up after around 2 mins of play - mainly been testing on quick missions british attack column. I have set everthing to low except for visuals and model detail to medium - during game play i have an average fps of 96. All other options are off and the resolution is as low as possible. even the mirror has gone as it gets me another 30-40 fps Any one got any ideas? No, you should be good to go now! Make sure you have the latest patch to v1.05.15950

Here is my setting screen if you want to follow it. you should be able to run very close to these settings ![]() Start with the basics. Shut off all background programs, antivirus, etc. Rename the ubisoft intro video so it doesn't load. Make sure Epilepsy Filter is off. Your issue could be anything....just keep tweaking. It will work great with your setup. Always shut your mirror off, look into fxaa in these forums. I use that as well. Also, your issue could even be heat. That is one of the most common culprits with "freezing". Check to see the dust status of your rig/box. Be sure and monitor your temps as well using a program like GPU-z for graphics or RealTemp 360 for processors. Last edited by katdogfizzow; 12-30-2011 at 04:10 PM. |

thanks for the tips katdogfizzow.
My GPU temps were running in the low 80s which i think is okay for a 460GTX but i thought i could improve them. I tuned the fan settings and drilled some holes in the front of my PC. Oddly front fans were installed with no intake holes. result GPU and cpu running around 10 degs cooler Also disabling the intro video and completely disabling spyware (rather than game mode) has all but stopped the crashing. Even cranked up a few of the graphics settings. Loving the game - beats eveything else out there hands down PS i have the capacity to add another 460 to my setup - not sure whether to get one before they become obsolete or hold out for another card? Any thoughts? |

Just stick with the single 460 for now..sli and crossfire arent working properly right now. I also run the 460gtx but its the 2gig version. with almost identical specs as you Win 7 with 8 gigs of ram. Those gpu temps seem pretty high good thing you were able to bring them down a bit. I run stock cooling, and my gpu temp barely reaches 70c..ussually closer to 65c. Glad to hear you have got it up and running tho S! Blue Skys!
