I have recently decided to look for some tutorials and tweak my graphics settings a bit. To my surprise, i can run perfect settings on a 3 year old PC, as long as i keep my resolution at 1024x768.
There is a slight issue however. When i use water=3 i get some strange graphics from time to time. I did use water=3 before as well, but didn't have any problems until switching to custom settings and perfect mode. For example, when i'm watching tracks there is a dark circle underneath the aircraft the camera is following. This only happens when the aircraft is over water, so i guess it has to do with the water shaders? Another thing is that sometimes i get wrong colors on the terrain, really bright ones like a negative film with high brightness. The thing is i can't get a screenshot because they disappear after less than a second. This mostly happens when i'm panning the view around and most of the times during the first few minutes of running a map/mission. I tried setting bilinear, trilinear and anisotropic filters and these problems persist, unless i set water=2. The thing is, i have a nVidia6600GT (128MB) and water=2 is better for ATI cards. The graphics bugs disappear with water=2 but i get some freezes. I'm running 4.08 on an AMD AthlonXP 2600+, nVidia6600GT (128MB), 1.2GB RAM and winXP service pack 2. Maybe i just need to get the latest drivers or it's something else. If anyone has an idea about these issues i could also provide a copy of my conf.ini and a dxdiag file to help pinpoint the issue. Thanks in advance ![]() |
