Default Steam just booted me from an offline game...

... while I was on ATAG comms. where they had the same problem. Now the game won't start. Just when the love affair with CoD was getting started

It might be something to do with Steam's hack recently. They're probably restarting the service or some such.

Fortunately, this is the only time I've seen Steam get hacked in the many many years it's been running, so this is very likely a one time kind of thing. Try again a little later.

Yep I think you're right about the hack. It took about half a dozen tries to reset the password. ATAG is up again with other servers. I hope you're right about it being a one of a kind thing.

99% of the problems that people are blaming on steam are probably CloD's fault. Pretty much every other game on steam (thousands) do not have any of the problems that CloD has.

The game was released and with in the worst state I have ever seen a game get the go-ahead in, and not much had changed in the past 9 months. Steam is a polished game platform, praised by millions and created by the best programmers in the industry.

Honestly, who do you think screwed up here?

As for the hacking. . . this is the first time it has happened. Think about that. All the angry nerds out there trying to get even with people who fragged them and ruined their stats . . . the fact that it isn't hacked every weekend is a testament to their genius and security!

p.s. stop crying about steam you big Luddite baby!

There's no evidence they even got the Credit Card info, if they did it was encrypted.
Valve may have just forced users that didn't reset passwords to do so, changed mine the second I heard about it.

I changed my password the instant their dialogue box popped up apologizing for the hack. If it was just my offline session that caused my (first ever) CTD I would tend to agree that it might be a CoD problem but some mates on ATAG TS had the same problem at the same time then the Steam dialogue box makes another appearance. If this is a one time deal ok .. I can live with it. But it's not a good feeling to be reminded that you have to wait until the big brother third party app allows you to start your game.

With respect to the "Luddite" reference, I commend you for your vocabulary but you're throwing a straw man into this discussion. I'm not protesting labor saving devices or the advance of technology but rather the intrusiveness of Steam.

I'd actually pay extra for that intrusiveness, I bought Black Shark 2 last week and I feel naked without the overlay

OT:Your in BC? I'm just next door....going to be sledding there in a few days, can't wait
