It is.

New topics are bold.

Stickies are bold.

Everything is bold. It's stupid.

I don't even notice that important announcements are made until I read other posts and think 'wtf are they talking about' Have stickers red or something.

probably you have some problems with your browser, mine are not bold after i looked at them

Everything is not bold...

Sticky is bold when new postings have been made. If you open the sticky it will revert to normal text.

The Subforums are bold, because it was a best way to call attention to them not being regular postings.

I can't believe I answered this. LOL

If you go into your user CP and options you can set up a cut off point so it will only show threads that have been posted in within a set range ie. 1 or 2 days or a week or whatever..

It hides all the old stuff.

It may help you.
