external sounds in "lobby"??

did one check , if one hosts whatever mission by creating a "lobby server" (seems to be needed if one in behind a router) instead of a "join client server" as such makes a difference in external sounds? I see every evening some 8-10 "join client servers", but no "lobby servers"....just wondering
and was unable to check with others so far
