Default I just cant work it out

I can't install the update patch V4.08m.

I have dowloaded it from M4T, extracted, unzipped, ran the installer app, turned off firewalls and AV. Splash screen still says V4.07m

No changes takes place. Restart, Still no change. I can't get perfect scenery. I can't even install hakenkreuz. 'Windows has blocked this file as it may harm your computer'

My system specs are below in my sig. I have once already completely uninstalled and re-installed IL2 1946 too. I cannot alter anything much at all from the shipped version.

Hey.

Check C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Il-2 Sturmovik 1946\ vs. C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Il-2 Sturmovik 1946

In Vista and W7 you can turn the user account control thingie, the paranoid feature that lets you do nothing but play spider solitaire, off in the User Accounts setting (control panel).

Can anyone just ship me a disk with v4.10 c/w hk, etc;?

Have you created a new folder to install the sim into from the start? If not, do so, instead of letting Windows decide where to install it. That should then give you more control over things.

Are you really sure the patch is being installed into the same folder your sim is installed in? The default path that the patch self extractor proposes is wrong if you are using Vista or higher.

Will not work .. you need patches 4.08 and 4.09 installed first before you apply 4.10 .

The previous posters are correct your problem is the patch is installing into a different place to where your IL2 was first installed.

You need to do some detective work and find out what is installed where.

Right, progress at last. I have installed V4.08m successfully after moving the whole thing into c:\il2 1946.

Hakenkreuz works too, but I have to double click on the application and 'run as administrator' before launching IL2, which is a bit of a pain.

Can't get the highest res of 1920x1080 but have managed the next one down.

Also all vid/graphics settings are running 'Excellent', but I don't have 'perfect' option.

My next problem is V4.09 patch. Downloaded one today but it has no application or install wizard, so is useless?
