Default Please help to save Berlin Airport Tempelhof

Please read carefully and if you sympathize sign the petition:

Quote:
The Berlin government is seriously planning to rebuild Berlin Airport Tempelhof for 62 Million Euro (54 Million GBP) into an amusement park!

Star-Architect Sir Norman Foster said about the world’s oldest passenger airport, “Tempelhof is the mother of all airports.”

Candy Bomber – Berlin Sky-lift ... and so much more is history and belongs to Berlin Airport Tempelhof.

Our idea is to keep Berlin Airport Tempelhof as a training centre for kids and a meeting place for young and old pilots, engineers, scientists and people interested in aerospace.

This is our idea what to do in THF and money well spent:

There is a project, an After School Program in Compton, near Los Angeles. It’s called ‘Tomorrow’s Aeronautical Museum’.
With an aim to reduce the incidence of drug abuse, juvenile crimes and gang violence, Tomorrow's Aeronautical Museum has introduced aviation training programs for young citizens. Through interactive school visit and flight training sessions, this establishment aims to secure the future employment prospects of deprived children.

Robin Petgrave, helicopter pilot with more than 15.000 flight hrs founded this project in 1998.
Together with politicians, enterprises, scientists and donators they have built up this sensational program. It’s a ‘Think Tank’ for projects in Aerospace for tomorrow.

This is something real positive!

Airport Tempelhof needs a program like this and

You kill two birds with one stone:

1) Airport Tempelhof will be a centre for the new pioneers in aerospace
2) You give kids, who normally don’t have a real chance a possibility to realize their dreams

Berlin Airport Tempelhof is a symbol for the friendship between Great Britain, U.S. and Germany. It can never ever be an amusement park.

There have cooler things been turned into amusement parks in the past.

My preference would be to make it THE national German aviation museum. Lots of space, lots of history - no better place. They could start with moving all the Gatow planes there.

Yeah JtD, I also believe that good to see the historical part. extra ordinary implementation over there by USA air force. It is always in pop up for aviation review. Apart from history there is sadness about Nazi related to this airport.
