How to download update

Hi,
As I am unfamiliar with Steam, how does one download the patch when it becomes available? Will it download and install automatically or will we need to do it ourselves?

Well, I've turned off auto update in steam about 10 times now and every single time
I look it's activated again

So a safe bet is it will update automatically wether you want it or not..

Was just going to ask here when Steam decided to finally update mine. Big challenge now is to make it run it. Steam pretty much won't launch it. I click, I wait and, guess what, nothing happens, at all. Anyone here had any similar problem? How do you launch that...?
