G’day All
Seeing the wish list thread seems to be AWOL I thought I'd run the following up the flagpole..... Now this is a something that has no doubt been discussed in the past, but perhaps not in the same way, in that would it be at all possible to have a custom “cockpit” skin directory, much along the same lines as that, that has been implemented for the custom sounds. As I think SaQSoN once pointed out, many of the cockpits have quite acceptable 3D cockpit models yet lack skinning to the same level, the work on the Ju87 cockpit below as I see it being a prime example of this. ![]() ![]() ![]() This may be a far more complex idea than it appears, but if possible to achieve I can see many advantages with this approach, chief among these is that it may alleviate pressure from TD and allow the general community to work on improving cockpits such the Ju-87, P-47, Bf-109, Hurricane, J88, etc, etc, while also allowing the users to implement ones that may already available elsewhere without the need to utilise any additional mod-grams. Just a thought…..

Not a bad idea. In my opinion it would be good to have directories for custom map and ground object textures too.

I'm Treetop, and I approve of this thread.
![]() I'm in favor of anything that promotes the idea of installing and improving the default cockpits textures in the game (similar to how we've already been doing aircraft skins for years now...) that doesn't involve downloading and installing some mega-mod package that force-feeds a ton of stuff I don't want, and "breaks" the default installation. Frankly, it's rather annoying that so much attention has been paid to the end-user flexibility and resulting vast improvement of aircraft skins over the years, but many of the cockpits are still the same as they were from ten years ago or more. Yes. Do this. Please. |
