Default 4./JG 53 is actively seeking Luftwaffe Pilots.

4./JG 53 'Pik As' is currently seeking Bf 109 pilots and Luftwaffe JaBo / Bomber pilots. We are US / NA based and each member will need a reasonable understanding of English. We know that Il2 / FB has an international appeal but my German, French, Italian, Finnish, Spanish etc... won't be improving any time in the near future. Also, all members must have a microphone and be able to use Teamspeak.

We are currently active in Ghost Skies - a virtual online war.

We fly 'full switch' and each member must meet the following requirements:
  • Maintain active participation.
  • Be civil and respectful at all times.
  • Fly under the '4./JG53_', or '4./KG53_', Staffel tag at all times.
  • Be over 18 years of age.
  • Be able to speak and understand English.
Ghost Skies typically runs 3 x 90 missions scheduled per week (Sun, Tues, Fri). We fly normally between 20:00 and 23:00 eastern US. We are looking for players who prefer to fly as part of a team and who are active.

If you are interested please check out our webpage:

Oh ha where is that location that you fellows are from, where they speak English?
If it where more central European and more the language spoken by that squadron you are trying to show, I might have been interested, although I am mainly a bomber pilot. Close but no cigar.

Either way please keep your "spam" out of my thread.

Anyway, we are still looking for pilots. If anyone is interested please contact us,

Is the Geschwader looking for Sturmvogel or VolksJager pilots?

I really don't like 109s or 190s all models, and I can just about stand Dora 9s, but am quite handy with the Ta152.

Might need to look at my internet connection to play online multiplayer first. Currently using Broadband mobile dongle with a theoretical speed of 7.2mb/ps but it is often slower than that, usually only half.

You don't really need ultra fast connections to fly IL2 online, i've done it in the past with as low as a 384/128 Kbps (downstream/upstream) DSL connection.

What matters most is the quality of the connection instead of the total bandwidth. Having a stable ping as high as 200 milliseconds to the server you are joining is good for relatively smooth gameplay, with some people saying that even 500msec is playable if not a lot of aircraft are present.
