I've created a Nightfighter single mission for anyone who wants to try it as an example of what can be done in offline mode for Nightfighting.
http://mission4today.com/index.php?n...etails&id=4015 As far as 4.10 goes there are some limitations to nightfighting and some concessions where made,as Ian Boys mentioned in an earlier thread, we can only simulate the early night air war. Current concessions made: -Bf-110G instead of the earlier models that were used in 1940 -Blenheims being the only British bomber close to anything used in the night raids, they will have to do for now, its pitch black, so just pretend ![]() (Wellingtons, Hampdens, Lancs, Stirlings, Halifax's etc. are correct for this) -No dedicated Nightfighters in the game, but I have seen a video a while back with the Lichtenstein radar on a 110G-4, so maybe its in the works. AI mosquitos and Beaufighters can substitute but if they are player aircraft of course they have no radar system yet. Anyways, have fun. Thanks to TD for the awesome beacons, updated bf110, and all the other features that make this stuff happen. |

Is it a dogfight/MDS mission?

No, its a single player mission. I decided not use MDS this time to see what it was like without home base options.

I'll give it a try. Any nightfighting mission is worth it

I shot down one, but immediately lost the rest of the bunch because I overtook them. Still have to work on that. They damaged me badly though, and stupid me, I continued without checking things that where vital. So after a while two red lights came on. I throttled to idle and went back home, going on a heading I felt was right while tuned in on the Lorenz. I was wrong, I was out of Benzin after 1 minute and after a long glide, I saw an aircraft with landing lights. So I requested the airfield lights... Then I saw them, equal left and right of my cockpit, worst angle possible when you're out of altitude. I tried to maneuver to get myself in line but stalled and crashed. So ... next time I have fuel tanks like colanders ... I'd better head back.
Cool mission, thanks! Would be nice though, if ventral gunners are blinded by those searchlights. I'll add the suggestion in the appropriate topic when it emerges. |
